Not too far ...a ten minute or so taxi trip. I often see Kata and Karon described as quiet. Well they maybe compared to Patong - but if you just want restaurants and bars from your resort than there are plenty of these. For us we no longer go to the 3 main resort areas of Phuket (Patong,Kata.Karon) as they are just to busy for our tastes. As for trips these can be arranged from any resort area in Phuket even the nice quiet beach of Naithon which we prefer.
