Hi,
Thinking of going to Koh Samui, We have been to patong (phuket) and stayed at a hotel that was up a quiet road but only a minute walk from the main streets and beach, any ideas for nice hotels in Koh Samui with a similar postioning near shops, bars etc is there a main town?

Chaweng is the main place. I can't help with a hotel as we were in the centre of things. Mind you, once you were in the hotel, you wouldn't have known it. It really was an oasis of calm. That was the Chaweng Regent, a few years ago mind you. The last couple of times we went, it was to Bophut, which has plenty bars and restaurants( on one street only) and is a short taxi ride into Chaweng if you fancied anything a bit busier.
