Well i am not happy at all!!! I received an invoice this morning, no letter, just an new invoice. I looked at it and discovered that the flight times have changed from 9pm to 7:10am. This means that now the children have to have a day off school and i have to take an extra day off also we lose nearly a days holiday. I wasn't happy! so i phoned the number at the top of the letter, the lady put me through to customer services.....I spent two hours waiting on hold and then put the phone down! phoned them back and spoke to a guy and begged him not to put me through to customer services......he listened to me...the fact that i cannot change my car park booking so therefore lose £50, the fact that the rooms have gone up in price but they have discounted the flights so it all balances out etc etc......he said there was nothing he could do apart from cancel the holiday or move us to a differant resort as the flight had been cancelled......I am not a happy bunny..........I'm paying the same amount of money for less days........it doesn't make sense!
Total bummer to have to take extra day holiday from work. My understanding though is that the holidays are for 7 or 14 nights, so if you are leaving the next day then you should get an extra night in the resort? I'd be fuming though...
Hi, new to forum, travelling out (hopefully) May 27th, myself, partner and 7yr daughter for 11 nights. Booked as a 4star in june 05 but after reading this saw now a 3, had letter about kids club and horseriding and now received invoice and noticed flight times have changed from june 8th depart 04.35 to june 7th 14.05!! therefore losing a whole day. Had booked late check out room so tried phoning but just put on hold!! Have read major changes states 'change of flight by more than 12 hours' so should be entitled to compensation? Anyone else having similar problems? After all this I really hope it is finished and as good as it looks in the brochure!
Well i wonder how much my 2hr on hold call will cost? they will have to pay for that too.....I will look into the compensation...i also have to cancel my late check out room...i am going to phone them tomorrow and ask for compensation....I am so angry...We were flying out at 9pm on the 24th and now we are flying out at 7:10am in the morning...this isn't good
If you have an early hours flight time on your depature then that night is classed as night 1 due to your room being on hold ready for you to go to on arrival.

They have also changed the home flight time to 12pm the day before......so as far as i'm concerned we are losing 3/4 of a day and its not right...i go on holiday for the days not the nights.
Has your flight time changed from 9pm on the 24th to 7.10am on the 25th? Or is it 7.10am on the 24th?
from 9:40pm on the 24th to 7:10am on the 24th and then from 04:35am on the 1st June to 14:05 on the 31st May....which means....no sun on the 31st May....
The change of flight times both ends won't make any difference to how many nights you are booked in at the hotel...
Your room will be reserved from 12 noon on the 24th to 12 noon on the 31st...which is 7 nights. You may not go for the nights, but that is how hotel/resort rooms are booked, and have been since jesus was a boy
As far as the travel agents are concerned, you are not losing anything! And continuing to play devil's advocate, your domestic arrangements are nothing to do with them, and they certainly won't compensate you for any upset to them...

I would look at this positively. You will now have sun (and a full day) on 24th May. Originally you'd have been getting to your hotel late at night, you are now there mid morning.
Your return you'd have been leaving your room at probably midnightish to get to airport and your checking in (sorry you haven't said where you are going to).
It's swings at roundabouts as you are getting to your resort a full day earlier than previously, you are still getting 7 nights holiday. All you have lost that I can see is approx 12 hours in the late check out room. But you have gained 14 hours on your outbound flight. You may have to alter your days off etc but you are back a day earlier also.
I appreciate that it is unfortunate that you'll have to take the kids out of school for an extra day on the Wednesday and schools can cut up a bit rough over this but you're still not only getting 7 nights in the resort but also much more convenient day time flights. And have you spoken to the airport car parking people and have they definitely said that you'll have to cancel and re-book? I would have epxected them to be more amenable than that - all you'll be doing will be dropping the car of earlier than expected ie early in the morning rather than early evening but you'll also be collecting earlier too.

mmmmm so maybe you're right i should be more positive!! BUT i still moan moan moan need to sort out the car parking it was a deal with no amendments....
Perhaps you could mention to the tour operator about the pre-paid parking that's now no use because of the time change. You never know they might offer you a voucher or something towards re arranging your car parking or at least be able to find you a competative deal.
Try to be positive. Loads of people are having their flight times changed this year. (especially in Turkey where I'm going ) I think many people would prefer your new times. The old ones mean't arriving in the middle of the night and you would have been without a room for an awful long time on the last day.
I know its so annoying when it happens, especially when it means having to take your kids out of school for an extra day. Try not to let it spoil it for you though, after all looking forward to the holiday is part of the pleasure. You will be able to go in the pool on the afternoon of your first day, check the place out and have a nice evening meal, and hopefully won't be as tired as you would have been on the next day.
After reading these, I'm sorry that you're upset but I'm actually hoping to go home tonight to a similar letter. I'm flying from Glasgow and the flight times are about the same as yours were but as my youngest is only going to be 16 months, I'm dreading the night time flights-day time one's would suit me so much better. I would have paid more for those flight times if they had been available but didn't get any alternatives.
Just an example of what upsets one person would delight another. If only we could swap, we would both be happy.

Funny now that I think of it, I've only travelled with First Choice on one other occasion and that flight to Florida was changed to the next day. No other tour operator that I've travelled with has ever altered the flight times by more than a couple of hours. Wonder if this is a pattern?
Just spoke to FC about flight times changing (june 8th 04.35 to june 7th 14.05) apparently first flight had to be cancelled as not enough passengers! Not entitled to compensation as informed before 56 days! I have not cancelled late checkout room yet incase they change flight again and I need it! I did query flight supplements and they have reimbursed me the difference, so that was a bonus, I asked if there was any news on the building work and they just said that it was 3 weeks ahead of schedule, so hopefully will all be ok!!
They have reimbursed me the flight supplements...but they have added some money to the room costs so that i still owe them the same amount if that makes sense??

I don't think they should be altering the cost of your rooms if this alteration was beyond your control.
Yer they said same kind of thing to me but still ended up reducing my balance! We had the same problem last year going to Turkey, we booked with Thomson then, and they changed our flight back and forth 4 times which is why I haven't cancelled late checkout room just yet! I was annoyed because now we leave midday instead of having the whole of the last day to soak up the sun rays and to chill out, we will be rushing around in the heat of the day, well me moaning wont change anything just feels good to get it of my chest! The lady I spoke to said the letters havn't gone out yet about the flights so over the next few days I think there will be alot more people having a moan! I only noticed the same as you from my invoice. Hope you get your car parking sorted and the school dont create to much fuss and I really hope we dont get anymore changes!
Well it appears that the Kos Aqua Beach Hotel is NOT opening on time. Holiday Makers are being told differant stories, some say that the build isn't on schedule due to power cuts, and others are being told that it is due to the training of Staff. First Choice have said that it opens on the 24th May.....we will wait and see......
