I believe that most schools in the USA start back immediately after the Labor Day holiday so I would imagine that the parks will be much less crowded during the rest of the week.

Americans are normally in bed by 21:00 when they are working or back at school the next day. Stayed with a family over there and someone told me this was the case and I thought they were having a laugh but it turned out to be spot on! Give me work to live over live to work anyday!

In answer to your question avoid the parks like the plague during the day as they will be overflowing. Go later in the day (after 16:00ish) and you will much better off.

Americans are not usually in bed by 21:00... that assumption is based on your experience with one family?! I've lived here for five years and can't think of anyone I know who would be in bed by that time, except perhaps a few older people. Anyway, I suppose it's not really an important point. :)
I agree that the parks will probably be extremely full on Labor Day. Me... I'm just looking forward to a day off work!

Well, I'm what you might call an 'older person' who has a lot of American friends that I have worked with here in Europe and stayed with when visiting the USA, can't remember any of them being in bed before 11pm. Oh I tell a lie I have one friend who often goes to bed about 10.30pm but he is 87yrs old and he usually gets up about 5.30am.
