Using http://www.viamichelin.fr (though you could use http://www.viamichelin.co.uk and change the country from UK to France) I found the following seaside resorts:-
LAGOELAN to :
St Brieuc 74 km, 1 hour 16 mins
Dinard 152 km, 2 hours 6 mins
Lorient 51 km, 1 hour
Auray 81 km, 1 hour 13 mins
Benodet 121 km, 1 hour 43 mins
Quimper 100 km, 1 hour 22 mins
And there will be lovely things to see in the neighbourhood.

Delighted to hear that your son had a good time. Many years ago I had a gite holiday in rural Brittany and still have happy memories of the countryside, the friendly locals and the total relaxation I enjoyed!

What you've already said is good enough for me.

Really looking forward to getting around beautiful Brittany in our car again just like our holidays of long ago, as we have been jetting everywhere since my son has grown up.

Well.......... been & back and it is a very rural area. Lots of farmland and huge expanses of forest. We loved it!
Quiet, relaxing and in a great central position to tour & explore Brittany in every direction.
Finished off with a week in Roscoff, one of our favourite towns: just great & we were so lucky with the weather most days.

Think I've fallen in love with France again! (pity about the waist-line )
