sorry its taken so long to reply. I had a bad first day back and spent most of it in bed or on the settee. Then we had a big family celebration.
We had dinner on NYE in the hotel Luci- it had a great menu, dj and brilliant viewpoint for the fireworks. We could see(and hear) 4 lots going off. To be honest, it was difficult staying awake till midnight- probably NYE is not best done jetlagged
As I hadn't had a great few months beforehand healthwise, we did take things very easy. I didn't get up till about 10 am and we tended to start making our way back to the hotel just after 3pm. We were totally thrown with the weather- I had a jacket and coat packed and longsleeved tops. Ended up wearing my 2 sleeveless tops during the day and ushing the washerdrier in our apartment. Temps was mainly mid 60s but did hit 70 on the last day. It was due to start coming down the weekend after we got home. I just love the Platinum. We have masses of space. The kitchen had a huge fridge freezer, cooker, microwave, and even a dishwasher. The hotel provides dishwasher soap, washing up ligquid, kitchen roll and soap powder.
The Grand Canyon was actually booked at Aberdeen airport in the lounge. I had decided beforehand that I didnt know how I would get on with a helicopter so had discounted the trip. Spur of the moment- I booked a coach trip for our last full day. Because of that, we didn't go ahead and book a show for that night as we would be back too late and probably too tired.
We set off at 6am and got back to our hotel just after 7pm. On our way out we stopped at the Hoover Dam. We had 4 full hours at the Canyon.
trip details
You have 3 places to visit and there are shuttle buses inbetween. My opinion- only bother to go to the range if you have already spent as much time as you have wanted at the other two places. The range is theme parkish and tbh- we could easily have just got right back on the shuttle bus. My other opinion- the skywalk is a waste of time. I did it as a challenge to myself but I dont think its in the best position.
Aim to spend most time at Guano point. It truely is spectacular. We had our lunch there. We thought that it would be cool or cold but it was downright hot and I had just had to lug my coat around and roll up my sleeves! OH scared the life out of me by standing right at the edge. And although I managed to walk over the glass and look down, I just couldn't get any nearer to the edge than about 2 feet
The tour cost $65 dollars each( plus a $10 petrol tax which we had to pay on the day- which is clearly stated). For that you get the guide, transport, lunch, coffee, muffin and orange juice- the shuttle buses between the view points)The skywalk was additional.
We enjoyed all three shows we had booked- Viva Elvis, Jersey Boys and Le Reve. Le Reve is one of the most outstanding shows to see. It is actually impossible to describe but I truely felt that I was watching a dream.
Buffets- we loved both the Mirage and Wynn ones. I believe the Mirage one is the most recommended(?) but I felt they were both of the same high standard. As for the slots, my highest achievement was at the first attempt- put in 5 dollars and cash out 32 dollars! It went downhill from there
Using airmiles to fly First class is something worth doing. You just cant beat it

Changing in the (sacklike) pjs while your bed is being made, and then sinking into it and falling asleep....you can't beat that feeling. But I certainly would not pay the amount of money the fare is
