We flew direct from Glasgow with Thomas Cook on Wednesday 9 July. Booked flight only and hotel New York, New York thru Ebookers. The Thomas Cook flight starts off in Manchester then onto Glasgow. It was ok for the travellers getting on in Glasgow but I dont fancy being on the flight from Manchester and then stopping off to pick up others. It works out about a 15 hour flight. Also many of the English passengers said they werent advised the flight was coming via Glasgow.
Flight itself was very good, no problems, took off on time and landed a little early. We didnt pay for any inflight meals, mostly because the meals are rubbish (a lot of the times) and we had taken sandwiches and snacks from Marks & Spencer on board with us but we were issued with a meal and snacks anyway

The heat when we arrived in Vegas was unreal - 110 degrees and we arrived at 11.30am (local time). We piled into the taxi, told the driver where we were staying and advised him "No tunnel, No tunnel" (as people on HT told me to do - thanks!) he was very pleasant and advised he would never take anyone who was staying at NYNY via the tunnel. Less than 10 minutes later we arrived at our hotel - fantastic - first impressions I thought I was in New York City

A bit of a queue at check in, took about 15/20 minutes. We got offered a room on floor 30 but it was a smoking room and we didnt want that so we opted for a room in the Chrysler building on floor 32 with a view overlooking the strip (we paid a little extra with ebookers for this). There is massive construction work going on in the lobby/check in area at the hotel, and the noise from the drilling was horrendous. The whole area is sealed off and there is no entry. Its very noisy in the America Restaurant next the work, but other than that you dont hear a thing. The construction work starts about 9ish and is finished for 4pm.
We went up to our room and what a view of the strip! Magnificent!!! We dumped our luggage and decided it was time for a bit of an explore. Wandered round the NYNY, its a fabulous hotel and a lot of work has gone into making it resemble the actual city itself. We stopped off in the hotel pizza parlour and had a large slice of pizza each and a couple of diet cokes. Think it cost approx. $10 or thereabouts. We walked across the walkway/bridge and into the MGM Hotel 0 -massive - and looks fantastic inside, the hotels are overwhelming and all the themes are superb. We had a walk outside just nearby to our hotel just to see what was what. We were extremely tired and returned to the hotel and a visit to the Haagan Daas ice cream shop - its a must, fantastic ice cream - yum! It was probably about 4ish and we went back to our room for a lie down for a couple of hours and then unpack.
Bed in our room was fantastic - so comfy - lay down and woke up again about 10pm

I think the time difference is quite difficult when you are going to a country and the time difference is behind the UK, and 8 hours is quite a bit I think.
