Laws on scooter and motorbike rental.
What is the law regarding hiring scooters and motorbikes in Tenerife? My son is 21 and holds a clean driving licence but hasn't passed his test on a motorbike. He and his mates are thinking of renting motorbikes/scooters in PDLA. Will their insurance cover them in the event of an accident and does the law state they have to wear helmets. I know the wisest thing is to wear a helmet - but youngsters being youngsters probably won't ask for a helmet unless the hire company insist.
You hear so many horror stories of things going wrong. They were hoping to see a bit of the island this way. What are the roads like?
Thanks for any info
He should check his travel insurance very carefully to see if he's covered. My annual policy covers me for some harazrdous activities as long as they are a one off holiday experience and not the main reason for the holiday, but I know most policies don't cover them.
