The balconies were not sealed when we stayed at Le Bua though they should be...easy to imagine a child falling through the balconies. Views are stunning but the hotel itself left me a little cold, although this was early in its life so maybe its developed a bit of atmosphere since then. You do literally look down on the Shangri-la helipad. We watched helicopters landing on the Peninsula across the river way below the level of our room.
we did go for a drink at the Dome

I first stayed there when it was the Meritus and the balconies were open. I couldn't believe that an architect would be so stupid as to actually design a hotel that was so high, had massive gaps between the railings that a kid could slip through, and, had the air conditioning box on the balcony that could be used as a 'ladder' over the balcony by any playful kid
And the very dodgy lifts, but I gather they have been fixed!
It's one of the worst hotel faux pas i've seen as the rooms are stunning. Massive. Huuuge.
For other Bangkok hotels, last November I stayed at the Dusit Thani for the first time. I prefer the location compared to the Landmark, it is slightly more 'business-ey' but I thought it was fab.
We found the rooms at Le Bua (Meritus when we stayed as well) a bit dissapointing due to the layout of the one bedroom suite. We ended up mostly in the bedroom, as this was the only room that had natural light. The lounge area was a little dull and depressing. The multi bedroom suites though appeared more inviting.
Also got fed up with staff stopping me in the reception area and challanging me as to whether I was staying there...probably because I was not dressed as smartly as those from outside going to visit the Dome bar and restaurants. I was not scruffy I hasten to add just not wearing my Sunday best.
