hi, when i am reading the coments of travelers who went on the lemon expres, i am very pleased to see that the most of those people liked the trip a lot, which is for me an honnor.
Why the Lemon expres stopped???
there is only one reason and that is security. As there was no money for a reparation on the axels (aprox. 1.000.000 euros), I considered that it was not safe anough to go on and to risk an accident. that is why I decided to stop the excursion. Now the Railway asked me if i am still intereted to restart it again, but on that moment the excursion have to start in Altea becouse of the electrification of the railwayline from Alicante till Altea which is, in my opinion, not possible for several reasons:
1 - to get on time for the departure of the train, we have to pick the people up in the hoteles at about 7 in the morning
2 - the tourism is in Benidorm and not in Altea
that is why i think that there is no future anymore for this excursion, anyway, if the changing it again to Benidorm Station, I will be happy to start it up again.
Thank you for your visit on the lemon expres, and most of all, thank you for your comments

The atmosphere, the scenery the sort of mock town at the end which looked like everyone left as soon as the train did
Its a huge loss as its something different from Terrible Mitica and the waterpark
I have fond memories of the Lemon Express too. It was on my very first holiday abroad with the children and my mum. Still have the photo taken during the journey. Loved it. Happy memories.
Subsequent trips appeared to have lost part of their magic as the trip became more of a 'hard sell' with all the souvenirs but it was still a good day out nevertheless. Although I have not been to Benidorm for a few years now due to health problems within the family, I shall always remember the Limon Express and am glad I bought a souvenir video of the excursion when I last had the chance to do so.
The Limon Express will no doubt be sadly missed.
The views as you went through the Spanish countryside on the Limon Express were amazing and I enjoyed looking at the small market at the top which had some different souvenirs which were very reasonably priced. I was glad to get down to the bottom as the noise on the way down was deafening.
