Lezlie. Its strange you should say that about them not doing half-lobsters, don't know the name of the place, but its next one down from Fishermans Cove on the Beach Road, When we were there in Jan this year, we had lobster there, and we were given a half each, do you think we were cheated??

:) You get some great lobsters on the beach at the shacks, especially when they do the BBQ's

Tried lobster a couple of years ago and sad to say was dissapointed,in my opinion you get more taste, more meat and a better price with the jumbo tiger prawns.
Suza Lobos on Calangute beach is very good with sea food, prices varied from 500-700 rupees for Lobster depending on size.

I had a massive one at the Dona Alcina in 2002, it tasted just like tandoor chicken :rofl

I had 2 at the Cutty Sark in candolim last year. The going rate is about 1 rp per gram, so 800 gram lobster, with all the trimmings about 800 rps. I would agree about jumbo prawns, you get more meat and tastier. Almost all places you need to order.
If you like crab then Amigos below the Nerul bridge is brilliant. You need to phone and order the crab (9822104920). You can have it whole or they will take most of the meat out for you, you get to do the easy legs yourself.

Got to say like Spike, we've always been disappointed with lobster too. Kept on wondering...what's so special about it?
Much prefer ordering a giant crab the day before, then having it casseroled in some sort of spicy sauce and just eating it out the pot with some breads and cold beer.

They are also not lobster like we know with the front claws. They dont have the claws. Agree with others the giant prawns are better. Where can I get the giant crabs in Candolim apart from the Spice Garden

Hi allsaints

Lots of places will get you a giant crab if you order in advance -depends on the market.

Best curried one I had was at Ronils on Coco beach it was still alive when they took it for a walk in the sea before cooking it! brilliant

Hope this helps

Yeah that's right, the ones in Goa don't have the big front claws. I think they're big crawfish and called lobster. Same family, same meat. Always enjoyed them in Goa and Capricorn in Calangute do a lovely Lobster Thermidor.
