Yeah, had a look on there before but the only thing I found was that they don't tell you where the theatre tickets will be and as it's a present I want to make sure they're decent. Disappointing though, as the prices were excellent. :(

Im off to the US Embassy in London for my Visa next month
I think its on Upper Grosevnor Street, and i am going down the night before as my appointment is at 12 and i have quite a fair bit to travel.

Can anbody recommend me a hotel thats pretty reasonable price for 3 of us that is fairly close by, we dont mind travelling to where the embassy is.

Thanks

What do you call reasonable? Obviously we've all got our own take on what's reasonable so if you could say roughly what you're looking to spend. Upper Grosvenor Street is just off Park Lane so you'll be hard pushed to find 'reasonable' in that neighbourhood but it's fairly close to Marble Arch which is on the central line so easy to reach by tube.

I'm hoping to get tickets for an event taking place at the Royal Albert Hall on the evening of Saturday April 12th.

I've no idea where in London it is in relation to Victoria mainline railway station. Can anyone tell me how long it would take to travel to/from an underground station near the RAH back to Victoria please?

If I'm going to do this by train I'd need to catch the last train from Victoria to Worthing which is at 00.05.

Thank you.

hi pips . the royal albert hall is only a couple of stops on the district line to south kensington from victoria or 3/4 stops on the circle line to kensington high st . only 5/10 on the tube but maybe another 10/15 walk from either station

see here . http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en&sessionID=JP24_1976067455&requestID=1&tripSelector1=1&itdLPxx_view=detail&tripSelection=on&command=nop&calculateDistance=1

or you can take the bus from victoria - 20 minutes

sorry pips it wont let me post those journey planners I made but have a look on the TFL website . you can do a journey planner and print it out

pips on that journey planner select RAH as place of interest in the destination . It gives the bus as the quickest :think but that is asuming you dont have to wait for it but if you just tick the tube box for how you want to travel it will give you the tube route including the option of a map of how to get there from the station which you can print out

either way it wont take you more than half an hour :)

In response to Marcuschap we are looking at under £90-100 for the night the cheaper the better.
We have looked at various accomodations and cant seem to get find one that suits us. We dont mind being away from the area as long as we can get transport into the centre easily.
This is what we need:

Sleeps 3 adults in 1 room
Has car parking facilities as we have to drive up from Liverpool,
Near to transport links to get us into the city centre
We dont mind being out the way as long as its easily accessable for links
Outside congestion area but it doesnt matter if we are inside

Does it sound like i am asking a lot?

Thanks for any help, its much appricated

Further to my previous question...

I'm definitely attending the event at the Royal Albert Hall on April 12th.

It's my hope we'll get back to Victoria in time for the last train home but if we don't would we be able to wait in the station for the first train in the morning?

I really don't want to book a hotel as it will add to an already expensive night out!

Change of plan! We've decided not to risk being stranded so we're going to drive from Worthing to Gatwick airport and park the car then catch the train to/from Victoria as they run all night.

Thanks for looking Brian :tup

The gig is on Saturday the 12th so it would be the very early hours of Sunday the 13th we'd need the train. Latest I can see is the train departing Victoria at 00.05 (think there may be a slightly later one to Brighton but it takes a ridiculously long time!).

If Muse leave the stage by 23.00 and the RAH empties quickly then we'd be able to catch the 00.05 train. Apparently though these Teenage Cancer Trust gigs tend to overun (suits me!) and also I can't see the RAH emptying quickly as it's so small!

I've looked at parking prices at Gatwick and it would cost £13 for between nine and thirteen hours parking. Return train fare Gatwick/Victoria is £9.60 each so I think this is the option we're going to have to choose.

hello, im looking for some advice on getting to london in march the 15th which is a saturday.I live in somerset and i need get to australia house for a expo on this day,but ive never been to london before, what i was hoping for is some advice on what form of travel to take. There is 3 of us going is it worth me driving into the center of london and trying to find a parking space!! Is there any carparks in this area? And how easy is it to find the strand with no experiance of driving in london!! Or should i just drive to a station outside of london and commute in to the center? any advice you can would be good many thanks.

I would never recomend driving in central london - especially if you don't know the area. Although Saturdays are better than during the week. I would defianately recomend going by train, either all the way, or parking outside london and comuting in.

does any one know of the names of the stations that would would be best to use? if i went up the M4? and what station would i need to get of at for the strand? thanks
