Thanks for the suggestions. RFC is out as we've tried it round the world and they hate it. I love it. Have done a search with the postcode and there are a lot of restaurants round about that the kids will eat at. Quite excited now.
Just wondered if anyone has booked any hotels in London recently, can get cheap flights with Ryanai, but have only manged to find hotels, travel inns at over £ 100 a night, Would like to stay quite central to Theatre land or Covent garden or covent garden area. Not sure about using the tube.

Have you considered the Youth Hostels - not all all what you are probably expecting and a VERY cheap bed!! http://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommodation/london/index.aspx
You could try http://www.imperialhotels.co.uk The Tavistock is pretty good value and easy walking distance of west end and Covent Garden. If you don't mind staying a little further out http://www.wardoniahotel.co.uk is fantastic value for money, rooms are tiny but clean and comfortable. It's up by Kings Cross so it is walking distance if the weather's nice (about 20-25 mins) and you're in a really good spot for tube connections.
Try looking on hotel direct site. We stayed at Club Quaters trafalgar square, great modern rooms in the middle of all sights.

Sometimes you can get a good deal on http://www.travelzoo.co.uk for London Hotels, they might not neccesarily be slap bang in the centre but everything is so close.
Or http://www.hotelclub.net/, where you can choose your location.
If you can get anything around £100 per night around Covent Garden area that will be good.

have fun at the carneval

We're staying at The Express by Holiday Inn at Victoria and getting a quad room for £340 for 3 nights which works out at £30 per night each.
Ramada Encore London West on Laterooms at £69.95 today - may be gone tomorrow. Chiswick Lodge Hotel, same site, £60, Paddington Court Rooms are £59. Have a search.
You might want to check out Active Hotels too (click on cheapest double room and put the right date in))

Yes am extremley premature to say the least!! I have noticed that the tickets for Olympics will go on sale 2011.When do you think will be the earliest date that accomodation can be booked in London?
Gosh Karen I would have thought so. I guess the cost of hotels will go considerabely for 2012.
They might take booking one year in advance.
I know when I tried to book a hotel online before, it only went forward one year.
Are you planning to come down for 2012?

We've booked to go to London on the 17th of October until the 20th. Have booked the London Eye, and The Lio
n King matinee as well as Madame Tussauds. We're planning a morning at Hamley's too. Am hoping to do the open topped bus tour but have no clue where to get it from?
Also on the Monday our flight isn't until 6.30pm. But need to do something. Does Paddington have a left luggage area or has that been removed in the wake of terrorist attacks? Not sure what to do with 2 children age 6 and 8 on the Monday. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Many thanks

I don't think any stations or airports have left luggage areas now, but you should be able to leave your luggage at the hotel and pick it up later.

We left our luggage at Kings Cross Station and it cost us £6 a bag ! This was in January. It wasnt in lockers though, there was a airport style desk where they put it through scanners!
Now that sounds fab as we'll need to drop our things at Paddington but not sure if Paddington have one. Will need to do a bit of searching.
Paddington have a left luggage section like Kings Cross on platform 12 open from 7am. Ideal for us to drop off and then head out somewhere for the day.
Hi all. Don't suppose anyone has a promotional code for a Friends & Family Railcard?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
