Hi
We are looking for a holiday for our 10th anniversary in June (5-12th). We have been to Sliema before, but ended up spending a few evenings in St Julian's - at bars or at the Casino.
I found the Cavalieri online and enquired with them directly about room types. They have said they have no availablity, however I can get booked through various websites like travelrepublic, lowcostholidays, alpharooms. Hotel say that I'd probably be cancelled if I book, or would be double booked. I had thought maybe these companies block book and then tell the hotel later the names for the rooms etc. I'm not totally sure and I'm worried about taking the chance.
That was a lower cost option. I've also seen the Westin Dragonara, Executive lounge access for £1150 for the week just for the hotel. Would be a nice treat, but I'm not sure if it's worth the money, or how likely we are to use the lounge 5-7pm for the free drinks. I've also looked at the two Corinthia hotels nearby. San Gorg also has a room with lounge access about £900 or so, but drinks only for an hour I think, so not really any better I don't think.
Any thoughts? Or any completely different suggestions?
Please bear in mind that this information is old, but as you've had no replies I thought I would chip in. We stayed in the Westin Dragonara some years back.
I really enjoyed it , the hotel is a standard 5* hotel, in the style of Hiltons, Marriotts etc the world over, nice big room, two double beds (probably one king for a couple) desk, chairs, bathroom & tolietries, TV, expensive mini bar lol. I am sure if you look on the web-site you will see photos.
Our kids were maybe 11 & 9 & we weren't cramped even with 4 of us, for 2 people rooms would be large, maybe luxurious depending on what you are used to.
Included was a great buffet breakfast, if you ate well & late it did away with all but the need for a snack at lunch.
There were a couple of pools & a bathing terrace at sea level, the far pool area was called the Beach Club & the waiters came round taking drinks orders, & there was a lunch restaurant there. Think it has it's own casino - maybe that's the one you visited before?
We were there in August school holidays so it was very busy, mainly English & Italian guests. It was an active pool scene but would be calmer in June.
It's a good location, you can get the bus to Valetta nearby. You are close to Paceville but you wouldn't know it once in the hotel.
I would say St Julian's is as good a place as any to stay in Malta & you wouldn't go far wrong with the Westin or the 2 Corinthian's that you mention.
If you have any specific questions I will try and answer, hopefully my memory wont fail me.

Thanks for your reply. We ended up booking the Cavalieri with Thomas Cook on Thursday. Hopefully will be good.
We will stop by the San Gorg for a look though, in case we end up going back sometime.
