Has anyone been here (loroparque zoo) and is it any good? We are going to PDLA next week and are looking for things to do. Is it far from Playa las Americas and has the killer whale show started yet?
Thank you in advance.
Fingers crossed for sun next week!!!
The Killer Whale show has been put back as the whales are not settling in as fast as hoped.
Loro Parque is a definite must. We were there last month and when we saw the dolphin show wondered why every one was stood at the back looking over the wall. Of course, we had to have a nose too and saw the orca whales swimming around with their trainers riding on their backs. They really are amazing ( the whales not the trainers) I look forward to seeing their show and hope they settle in soon.
I would definitely recommend a day at Loro Parque, the nicest, cleanest, most well-run zoo I have ever seen The sea-lion show is our favourite
... Is it far from Playa las Americas
About an hours drive away on the motorway.
If you are going on an excursion, it will obviously be the same travelling time but plus extra for the collection of people in the morning and drop offs on your return.

Although it would be worth it once you got there, it is really good.
But if you don't fancy a long journey, there is Jungle Park your end of the island. No dolphin shows but it has falconry displays instead. And meerkats.
Loro is a wee bit overated, went once and felt it was not worth the 1.1/2 hours on the bus. Better to go to Jungle Park which is only 20 mins away
But if you're not keen on travelling then stick with Jungle Park...and visit the other side of the island on your next holiday!
New Loro Parque later this year in PDLA I think its to be called Sian Parque
Siam Parque. Supposedly opening in December, but not sure which December.
If you're taking kids and they hate car journeys go to the Jungle Park/Parque Aguilas which is located about just above Los Cristianos. OK, no dolphins there, but a great park for kids and adults and it has a fun assault course and bobsleigh ride too. Amazing open air birds of prey shows.
Smaller parks: don't forget Monkey Park (near Los Cristianos), a small private zoo with more than monkeys, and a different experience from the bigger parks, but you get to touch, feed and walk among the animals un-escorted. Also interesting, if not a bit odd, is the Ostrich Farm, on the back road between the airport and San Isidro, at Atogo. There is a bar and restaurant too where you can eat the meat too. You can feed the birds and walk around the park - it's FREE. Interesing gifts and souvenirs and very popular with Russian tourists.
Well worth seeing loro Parque but it is way up north and a good hour's drive up the moterway. best to hire a car coz if you go on a coach trip it is even more expensive and takes even longer..
To those members who stay in tenerife an update on the progress of the ne park in the south of the island would not go amiss as it seems some folk think it is near completion and others not.
Thanks
allmen
The article must have been done in February if there were still ten months to go till proposed opening in Dec 2006. I wonder if it is still on schedule?
Has anyone been to the Lorro Park in Tenerife recently? I have heard lot's about it, but wondered where the best place is to get our tickets from? Don't want to go on an excursion, we want to go independently so we don't have to rush around. If anyone has any opinions on this attraction can you let me hear them please! Thanks.
hi we went and just paid at the entrance if your driving from pdla area go the mountains route rather than than motorway it's a great drive have fun daxy1
Thanks for that, we're staying in Costa Adeje, I've heard there's a free bus so will probably use that. Can you give me any details on what's at the park?
hi minxy106 there should be a link to the park on the forum ill look it p and put it on your post. we have only drove to the park that only took about 90 mins but my mum went on the free bus and said it took over 3hrs stopping to pick people up on the way the park is really worth a visit my kids want to go twice in october when we go next thanks gary
http://www.loroparque.com is the website.
Although,we too drove up by car,and paid the 29 Euros each entrance fee at the door. It's slightly cheaper to do an excursion with http://www.admiraltraveltenerife.com/excursions.html
27 Euros for adults and 19 Euros for children. I know you said you'd rather DIY,but thought I'd give you that info.too, just in case.
Hope the website gives you all the info.that you need.
