We stayed at the Louis Creta Princess in May and it was fantastic. We booked as soon as we returned for next year. The food was excellent and freshly cooked infront of you and there was always plenty of alcohol and food. The entertainment - they tried their best and the only thing I'd point out is that they are pretty hot on men wearing trousers in the restraunt at night.
There was a good mix of people and the animation team worked hard with a good balance of trying to encourage people to do things but without being too pushy.
I quess some people might find the rooms small we had a family room which was 2 twins and a small bunk bed and we were full to capacity.
I would have returned 2006 but my eldest is 13 for next year and this would mean 2 rooms and paying for 4 adults rather than 2 adults and 2 kids. With Eclipse this was going to increase the price by approx another £1,500 for in effect the same holiday as we had this year so have had to look elsewhere. (Just glad we went when we could still get a good deal!)
Beach is a bit disappointing but I think most brochures mention this, and we had a car for a few days to get out and about, but hotel lays on a coach to Chania which is worth a couple of visits for shopping change of scenery etc. So some may not wish to bother with a car. (It was hard to know where to park in Chania, so its probably better to get courtesy coach anyway).
Hope you have a great time.
Had a great time. If you have any questions on the hotel and surrounding area I will do my best to help.

Tracey
We are going with friends who have 8 & 12 yr old.
I have just realised the first choice kids club only goes up to age 8. Is there any hotel run clubs for the older 2?
Also does anyone know if they will acknowledge my daughters birthday, we cant take a cake with us as it is right at the end of the holiday.
Any advise or tips for the whole holiday would be great. I am not worried as it looks fantastic but nice to be prepared!!!
Cheers Sam

From their website Sam - the 12yr old should be fine.

Children's facilities
For our younger guests from 4 - 12 years of age our professional animation team offers a different programme of activities every day at the especially designed mini-club of the hotel. Furthermore, children can enjoy swimming at the children's swimming pool adjacent to the adult's island shaped pools as well as our extensive playground in our garden area which is especially designed for children and is equipped with children facilities.
Welcome aboard young sailors!
A remarkable real size ship, located within the hotel's grounds, at the disposal of our young sailors. Children can have fun on its various internal and external decks, while parents enjoy their cocktail around the swimming pool.
Just to let you know that according to the website there is also a dress code:-
Dress Code:
- All guests are requested to appear with a semi-formal attire.
-No trousers above the knee are allowed (for adults)
-No bare feet (for adults & children)
-Gentlemen must wear closed shoes

Thank you thats great. Appreciate it.
I'm pretty certain that these were the Louis hotel animation team and not FC reps.
Other advice and tips
Well make sure you go into Chania it's a great place. There is a bus at the hotel that you have to put your name down for which we used once, get your name down early as its popular. We also went in a couple of times by car but it's difficult to know if your parking in a place you are allowed (unless you read greek!) I saw cars that had been clamped!
Platanais is the nearest town this is also worth a visit, with bars, shops and restaurants, but probably less character than Chania. The euro has taken its toll but best buys are still probably leather goods. I also got kit bags really cheap and still going strong. Should you wish to eat out it seemed quite reasonable in price to us, mainly I think due to the competition of so many bars/restaurants and cafes. It was nowhere near as expensive as Minorca for example.
Unless its changed the food is pretty good for an AI, even the wine is drinkable. So unless you are very fussy you can normally manage on the AI, if you have kids with a liking for magnums (like I have) and other branded products then obviously you have to pay.
Should you need snacks the shop opposite is needless to say much cheaper than the hotel shop. I forgot the flip flops and they were half price for the sake of crossing the road.
Sorry, Ive rambled a bit. Have a great time. We did.
just looking for some info on the Louis Creta Princess & crete itself,IE the weather & place's to vist as we'll be hiring a car we've booked to go 2nd week may 2008.Just returned from 2 weeks in zante(lagnas) we liked it so much decided to vist crete.
many thanks paul,jenny & hannah (4years)
hi welcome... have you looked at the
Myself, my husband and our daughter went to this hotel 3 years in a row from 2002 to 2004. Our daughter was aged 3 when we first went and 5 the last time. She loved it. The pools were great, she loved the mini disco at night, and the first choice kids club was wonderful
The food was good and the people were very nice. If you fancy a walk at night then go right along the beach and you come to a few bars, one had a little play area which my daughter enjoyed.
We have just come back from Crete but the other side of the island by Rethymnon staying at the Iberostar Creta Panorama. We had a heatwave at the start of our 2 weeks starting 26 June with temperature just before we got there of 49 degrees and up to 45 degrees when we got there. It did go down to about 35 degrees in our 2nd week. I think this was unusual and we cetainly didn't have it this hot when at Louis. Also, i think there was a nice breeze at Louis.
A must to go and see if Chania city by the harbour. It's very pretty and lots to see. Since we didn't hire a car the only other place we went on the noddy train from the hotel was the water park. It was good fun with plenty to do for young children, but you have to be careful of ground as it can get very hot.
At the top of the driveway to the hotel was a shop that sold lots and was a lot cheaper than the hotel shop.
Have a good time, and I'm sure your daughter will enjoy it, and i always say if the children are happy then so am I.
Has anyone else been recently? We are booked to go there in Aug 2008 so we will be watching the reviews and threads very carefully.
