I have just come back from Los Christianos and saw a few Looky Looky men, but not too many - a few hair braiding ladies but they just seem to sit on the side and call out to you.
I did, however, go for a walk to PDLA one afternoon and saw loads of them. We sat for a beer and in that 30 minute spell had 6 of them come up to us trying to seel watches/bracelets/sunglasses etc. Got a bit annoying after a while as it kept on interupting us. If we were having a meal then it would have annoyed me even more - this was at about 5pm. Then walked passed a few the promenande on the way back - put me off eating etc in PDLA.
To be fair, once you say "no thanks" they move on, but it's just the number of times you get approached is the real pain when you are trying to relax or have a chat.
LC didnt seem to be half as bad for that.
What is the current going rate for a fake Rolex from the looky-looky men? I am off out there in March and fancy grabbing one.
We were sitting outside McDonalds in PDLA and saw around 8 or 9 looky-lookys running in the same direction. Turns out they were running from the police, so I can only assume that they are illegal?
Just make sure you don't say 'Charlie' around them, as this is their term for drugs.
from the lookie lookie men they will start off at around 200 euros for any off the two and argue that they are genuine, ask them for the wax seal on the strap and the box and certificate, they look at you stupid and reduce the price greatly,
remember you get caught with these your nicked
It has never ceased to amuse me that they will try to flog me sunglasses whilst I am already wearing a pair. however, now that I have a fashion concious grandson, maybe I will give in and buy a pair of "Oakeys" as a present.
As for the Rolex, 10 Euros sounds fair for the battery type but I will make a strong attempt to get a perpetual for 30!

Sadly most resorts are blighted with these people nowadays. The governments really need to sort these people out. It can spoil your holiday being constantly pestered.
The people who do get my goat are the time-share touts, but that is the subject of seperate threads and not for muddying this one
Cheers,

Almost all kerbside sellers/touts/timeshare/whatever are a nuisance to the majority of holiday makers. And the Looky Looky men more times than not sell 'fakes' which is illegal and takes trade from the legitimate traders with legitimate shops.
Get rid I say.
Cheers

There must be a market for the products, otherwise they wouldn't exist.
No thank you suffices I find.
Remember, you can't get blood out of a stone, or, the other slant, a fool and his money are soon parted.
Whatever, enjoy Tenerife
my son loves the looky looky men he haggles with them all the time gets what he wants for a good price.he spent alot of money with them over the christmas.i think they like him.he never pays the asking price.he said they jump with joy when you buy off them
there is another thread on here about this guys, i myself this last visit as put tenerife to be the last place i will visit due to them trying to sell me drugs in front of my children on more than one night. for crying out loud i am nearly 50 years old and no way do i look like or dress like a "smack head" so its just not ceartain people they are targeting its anyone, come on tenerife, get that big sweeping brush out and clean up your act, there is only one person who will suffer in the long run and it will not be the tourist.
Definately with you on this one legs. They are a nuisance and illegally trading in fakes. (drugs too). And if you buy fakes you too are breaking the law (I believe).
Over the years I have no trouble with them at all. They are trying to earn a living with a bit of fun with it.People like there talk, cheaper than Asda, buy one get nine free, Del boy.Just smile and say no thanks.Bought a rolex 4 years still going.Have fun.
