I went to Palma nova/Magaluf in September.
I had a really smashing time, everyone was friendly and the hotel staff were really great.
The hotel we stayed at was the Tobago in Palma Nova, the food was reasonably ok, rooms basic but very clean entertainment was fab and the hotel staff were really polite and helpful, i was actually surprised as i had read hotel reviews for this hotel and got really mixed feeling from it.
I was also really anxious about going with my friends as i had been told that Magaluf especially was just really for the younger people not our ages of 30+. nor for families.
Im so glad I still went, this is so not true, there are all ages there and children.
Im going to return next year with my own children and hubby as i had a wonderful time.
I went to a brilliant little pub english run called Ruby Tuesdays I think they were in Nova rather than Magaluf though, they did a smashing english roast on Sunday and the staff were so friendly.karaeoke, bingo and kids welcome.
They also put me intouch with a gentleman from Goodplacetogo.com who gave us discount attraction tickets for the PIRATE SHOW, honestly it was the best show i have ever seen. Cant wait for my own children to see this show.
My friend went on a trip to the caves of drache and with these people she only paid i think £20, We were also given free a card, i cant recall what its called butnearly every bar on the island gave us drink discount which were brill, considering nothing is free these days we saved a packet on our bills.
We booked this holiday with our local travel agents, flights included but to be honest i have enquired with Goodplaces for accommodation as i have been told we could cut are accommodation prices right down and i know cheao flights are easy to come by.
I will really look forward to 06 as i want my family esp the kids to have a blast the same as i did.
Golf fantasia also looks good so i know me and the kids will have a bash at that.
A little dissapointed that i did not manage to find any local riding establishments though, im a keen horse rider and the closest supposidly was miles away over the other side of the island at rancho grande, i was not that botherd though as there was plenty of other things to do.
role on 06
i've been taking my family to maga for 6 years and always had a great holiday ,they are spending alot of money in maga .you must really pay bcm square a visit at night you will be made welcome by javier and his guys .the Raggle Taggle Gypsy band in bobbys tavern is great
thanks
will children be welcome in bcm square? answer is yes .the square is owned by bobby and javier is nothing to do with bcms but saying that have got bcm cafe at the end of the square which shows all the major sporting events on a giant screen(watched champion league final there last may and it was a great night, even for a spurs fan )bcm square has a large stage outside and loads of acts there in the summer .bobby and javier will make familys most welcome
They have also felt the squeeze from BCM's own cafe in the square, where the drinks prices are a lot cheaper (in fact for a while in the high season they were giving free drinks in the afternoon) and it will be interesting to see whether he manages to keep the Raggle Taggle Gupsies who are excellent, but who seem to be doing a lot of work for Pirates!
There's a lot of infighting this year between MCP and BCM who are fighting for monopoly of the younger crowd, and whilst this is good for Holidaymakers (it drives down drinks prices) it's not so good for the smaller independents like Bobby.
Fortunately we don't fish in the same pond as them - we have more Sagalouts than Lagerlouts!
PS Someone explained to me recently that SAGA stands for "Sex and Games for the Aged"!
PPS The weather today had been absolutely beautiful
Cheers,
Adam
