Malaga Airport

You don't need any coins for the luggage trollies. They're free!

Indeed the use of baggage trollies are free at Malaga. There has also been an increase recently on the availability of trollies however during peak periods when the airport is really busy (Sat and Sun mornings in particular) when they can be be still quite hard to find. Look in every nook and cranny if need be!! Delays continue to be incountered getting thru' immigration and baggage reclaim particularly at these times however the airport authority make every effort to minimise - even to the extent of some flights/passengers being directed through Terminal 1 arrivals to reduce the stampede through the normal international arrivals at Terminal 2.

Hi, new to the site, very nice btw. I've done a quick search but no luck. Anyways as the thread title says really. My wife and i and the two kids are flying to Malaga on Sunday for 11 days of warm sunshine(hopefully) and we are due to meet my wife's parents at the airport. The problem we think they might have is that they've got a campervan and we we're wondering if anyone on here would know whether there is an height restriction for short stay parking at the airport? Thanks in advance for any help :D

I'm not sure how helpful it will be but here is the web address of the airport.
Malaga airport

There is a note at the bottom of the first page indicating changes being made to the road network and recommending public transport. You may be able to e-mail the airport and get the information on height restrictions from them.

Can anybody tell me how far a walk it is from getting off the plan to collecting luggage? I have a daughter with limited mobility and wondering whether to arrange help when we get off the plane. Went to Majorca last year and it was a about a 10-15 min walk, with her pushchair. We were carrying her and our hand luggage

Assuming that you are arriving from the UK, the walk is quite a way. People with walking difficulties should definitely ask for help.

There is usually transport (I call them golf trolleys) going to and fro from the terminal to baggage reclaim. However, perhaps you would be better off arranging this at check in to ensure that you have help available just in case it is busy.

Good luck

If anyone can use the train to their destination from Malaga airport I would suggest they do that as there is so much congestion around the airport at the moment due to road works. Travelling to the airport is a bit of a nightmare. Much easier by train, and of course a hell of a lot cheaper than taxi.

The short stay parking are is a nightmare at the moment, absolutely manic!
I find the best thing to do is park up near the airport and ask guests to phone me when they've got their baggage, then I drive round and they jump in. The security guys are directing the traffic in and out, so you need to watch where they are directing it and be in position ready to jump in, preferably having got rid of the trolley.
Admittedly it's not as sociable as being there waiting for them, but at the moment it's just so much easier.
Have fun.

I agree with Kayley. In fact. I think it's actually easier if people arriving make their way up to the entrance to the departure area. It's easier to get your car in there for a short pick-up.

Hi Sunnysenorita,
Please could you tell me if the Fuegirola train from the airport stops at arroyo near Benalmadena? If not, can you suggest any other way to get there (cheaper than a taxi)? Thanks in advance.

Hi Holiday addict,

Yes the train does stop at Arroyo de La Miel (Benalmadena). I think for that fare you would pay a huge 1.75 Euros or even less!

The train is really easy as there is only one train line which goes either in direction of Malaga or direction Fuengirola. Obviously you would need to take the direction of Feungirola.

Thanks for that info. I think we will do that instead of getting a taxi, it sounds much cheaper.

and you can take your luggage trolley over the ramp to the train station, there is now a little trolley park there for when you return...

Hi doe's anyone know of long term car parking facilities near to malaga airpot.

For covered parking I would use Easyparking. They are just outside the airport opposite the San Miguel brewery and operate a minibus transfer. Charges are €7,50 / day up to 21 days with a 30% discount for longer terms. The will wash and valet your car for an extra charge. The website is in Spanish but they speak English when you ring. I don't qualify for posting URL's but it is a dot com and the name is easyparkingmalaga.

If you don't mind leaving your car outside I can recommend Parking Sur. Again they are on the outskirts of the airport but operate a very efficient minibus transfer on demand. I was last there in September 2006 and the charge then was €3,50 / day. Once you have collected your bags off the carousel you ring them (0034 952 23 28 91) and by the time you have left the arrivals hall they will be waiting. The journey back to the car park takes a few minutes and by the time you get there your car will be waiting and will have been washed. Bonus! They also speak good English.

Just to correct a comment by Aguila Mike, I'm not aware of a bus from the free parking at Car Park 4 unless it is a recent introduction. Certainly throughout the summer season 2006 you had to walk from the car park through a tunnel under the railway. I apologise to Aguila Mike if that is not still the case.

I'll check on that next Tuesday !

Can confirm that there is no free bus service from car park 4. Access to the car park from the terminal building is via the footbridge to the train station, then through a tunnel under the railway lines.
