oh no- I absolutely hate it when the temperature is pushed up. Its so uncomfortable :(

You want guaranteed leg room then thats the only option. We had emergency exit seats once KUL-LHR but we knew the Malaysian girl who could actually allocate seats. :D :D

A couple of things I was not so keen was on the daytime flight back they force you to shut the window covers...so it becomes like a night flight, They also push the internal heating up so you become sleepy...something I'm trying to avoid.

Didn't have that on my flight - spent many happy hours watching the world go by, in a normal aircraft temperature!

just got back from KL on wednesday using MAS definately the morning flight in midweek is the best as it seems to be usually only half full (only 2 of us and they blocked off all 3 seats in the window block for us at check in).

I am quite tall (6ft 3in) and still have enough room in the economy seats.

I was quite surprised this year as the windcover cover police did not patrol on either flight (first time ever) as a result we saw a great lightening show (I don't recall the usual temperature happening either, but maybe it was just a one off)

The seem to have improved their inflight entertainment as you can pick what you want to watch when you want much better than the channel system they used before.

I have to thank everyone who recommended the Mandarin Oriental which is definately the best hotel I have stayed in KL (including Shangri La which I stayed in a few years ago when they were offering an amazing acommodation deal, although I think the room was bigger at Shangri La it still could not beat the great location and the amazing service at the MO)

We flew to Borneo (via KL), had a few internal flights & back again over the past few weeks.

On the way out, when we checked in the lady was lovely. She gave us 3 seats for the 2 of us so we could stretch out a bit. The flight itself was good. Watched some good films, food was good, loads of room (but I am only 5 foot tall).

On the way back, the flight was full but we had requested aisle seats so we didn't interupt anyone as it was also a night flight. They definatly didn't pump the heating up as I was freezing but I did manage 8 hours sleep, which is unheard of!! Again, crew were great, very helpful when someone's baby wouldn't stop crying.

Would definately use them again.

Down to personal preference - Malaysian have far superior legroom to Singapore Airlines, and being 6ft 6, that's what counts. I've flown both recently, and there is not that big of a difference.

We flew with Malaysia Airlines to Langkawi and KL and i found them to be very good, the 34" seat pitch is very good, the food was also excellant for an airline.

The one complaint i would have was that the IFE didnt work on the way home! Other than that excellant.

You will have no problems flying with MA

Never is a long time, Mags.
Was there anything in particular wrong with your flights or do you just prefer Singapore Airlines?

We're going to Bali with Malaysian Airlines on a package deal in September.
Does anyone know if you can ring up and reserve seats?
Nothing in particular, like extra legroom seats, we just want to be sure of a window seat.
I've had a rummage round their website but can't see anything.

Thanks

Has anyone got any ride reports on Malaysian Airlines? Likely to be using them to Kuala Lumper and Singapore soonish and never had the pleasure before. Will be the B777 out of Frankfurt.

Any thoughts on the operator appreciated.

Usually use the 747 service out of Heathrow which is fine, one of the better airlines I've flown with - good service and good amount of room in economy. However did fly the 777 from Amsterdam once which felt a little crushed because the Dutch are such tall folks. Plus I had a wonky seat and I got a DVT on the flight...actually thats not such a good reccommendation is it :)

:think ...mmm...not such a good recommendation (lol). Lets put that down to the 777 and not the carrier. Although I am sure they seat pitch cattle class onboard the Malaysian tripple 7's are 34" (not too shabby I guess).

Flew to Oz a couple of years ago with Malaysia Airlines. 747 to KL then 777 to Adelaide. I believe the seating on the 777 was 2,5,2. Good leg room, seat back entertainment, excellent service and reasonable food . The staff were busy throughout the night bringing round drinks (water and juice). I am a fan of Thai normally for far Eastern flights, but I think their fleet is in need of a overhaul. I would definitely use Malaysia again. We used the Malaysia stop over program both times which included a free flight anywhere within Malaysia. Skytrax rate the airline 5*

We are flying to Kuala Lumpur by Malaysia Airlines at the end of May. I must admit, I am getting a bit concerned as I haven't read very good reports about them lately. However, most of these reports were quite old. Has anyone flown with them recently and if so what was it like. ie, service, in flight entertainment, food etc.

We flew with them last May & it's the best airline we've flown with. Loads of room, service was brilliant, entertainment was good.

I was also concerned after reading reviews on other websites but I couldn't fault them in any way at all.

Flying with any airline in economy for 12 hours is never going to be 'enjoyable', but Malaysian is miles better than most any carrier that flies that distance in economy. More leg room, punctual, great staff, decent entertainment, it's hard to ask for much more really.

I'd put them in my top 3 long-haul airlines.

Recently done Europe-KL and back with Malaysian. B777 cattle class. Initial impression was great leg room and reasonable service on board although my female companion is somewhat of the opinion it was the males that always got addressed! Although the curry at 6am local time was surely not so clever!!

My only issue was interests of passenger safety. While the crew were attentive they were not assertive when seat belt signs were switched on and announcement made during the flight about returning to seat and buckling up. I noted at least 3 passengers moving around the cabin and even opening over head lockers some 10 minutes after seat belt signs were illuminated. Also for departure and landing the crew did not fully check positions of foot rests ensuring in up right position and I had to tell 2 passengers within my line of vision to put them up.
