Thank you for the link to your trip reports Darren, much appreciated.
I am looking forward to the flight in PE. We did fly PE with BMI before, to Washington a few weeks before they changed the aircraft and did away with the PE cabin. It was good then, but I suspect this will be better looking at your photos. The legroom is certainly far better than Virgin's.
When you checked in the night before, could you then just go straight through security the next morning? Did you have to do anything else that morning?
When we flew BMI before we checked in the night before and next day just went straight through security. But then when we were waiting at the gate, anyone who checked in the night before had to queue to see some chap about something - I can't remember now what it was all about, but it was a pain because it wasn't well set up, we were queuing in the same area as people needing assistance to board. It seemed to defeat the object of having checked in the night before.
I'm wondering whether it's worth doing this time, if it will save hassle the following morning.
By the way, does anyone know if PE still gets fast-track security?
If you check-in the night before along with luggage, you'll get your boarding cards so you can proceed straight through security on the day. I don't know if PE get fast-track or not, but it's usually pretty quick through T3 anyway.
Darren
We went straight through security, no queues, the only thing we do not get is was our visa waiver card that everyone else got when they checked in, we just asked the cabin crew for one during the flight.
PE on Virgin doesnt get Fast Track if thats any help.
Now I'm just hoping BMI don't stop the Chicago service any earlier than announced!
We fly back on 7 Jan 09, last flight back is 15th!
Hi, has anyone used the DAY BEFORE CHECK-IN BAGGAGE @ MANCHESTER AIRPORT... TERMINAL TWO..with FIRST CHOICE HOLIDAYS?
We have been advised by the above to present our checked-in luggage between 12am and 10pm on 16/12/2008 the day before the flight. It would appear that at Terminal Two.... there are many check-in desks shared by FIRST CHOICE and THOMPSONFLY. Does anyone know if there are certain desks set aside for the above purpose and what numbers they are likely to be? Thank you in anticipation. A & J.
You'll find all the information on day before check-in on the dedicated First Choice thread and First Choice website. Remember ALL passengers in your party need to be present at the airport to check-in. Unless you live close to the airport, it's often not worth doing. What time are your flights? It's busy between 6.30am and about 11am, but after that the queues are fine. You'll only find Thomsonfly desks at the airport, FCA no longer exists as an airline because they've now merged with TOM. Check-in desks are approx 46-53 in T2.
Darren
Thank you Darren Wilson....for the detailed information.
If you fancy a breakfast in T1 before you fly - don't use the self service cafe upstairs - go to Bar MCR just opposite - It's priced at £6.95 for the bigger breakfast, better food and waiter service. Just order at the bar.
Does anybody know if Monarch have dropped Ibiza from thier summer 2009 schedule - can't seem to find any info.
Thx
John
I'm sure they will be, it's one of their main summer destinations. Maybe they just haven't released the flights as yet.
Darren
Might be worth bearing in mind for those in Scotland and Westcoast when booking which airport and how to get to the airport.
Our Hotel buddies from South Wales also decided this year to take the train connection upto Manchester Airport rather than going to Gatwick.
Lisa
I just didnt want to bother parking, the link about arrivals on the airport website isnt working so I cant check the rules on there.
Thanks
You are are a bit stuck at T2 really. You can't get anywhere near arrivals unless you use the short stay car park. Details are on the Airports website. It's £2 for up to 30 minutes (rip off for just picking someone up). If you are really cheeky, tell them to go upstairs to departures and pick them up there. You aren't supposed to do and will have to be sneaky and make sure the police or security don't see you, but it'll avoid the £2.
Darren
Thanks very much Darren
Does anyone know what gate number does Easy Jet leave from at Manchester to Alicante
The gate number is allocated on the day of the flight by ATC (Ground Ops). It'll be on the screen when you get through to the departure lounge. It's normally something like 48 (T3), but you'll have to check when you get there.

Does anybody know if Monarch have dropped Ibiza from their summer 2009 schedule - can't seem to find any info.
Ibiza has now disappeared from the drop down selections - can't even select MAN to IBZ and get 'no flights available' now. Majorca and Menorca the only Balearic holidays they are offering.
Not looking good
John.
We went to Goa this year from terminal 1, but it was an afternoon flight, but this flight is at 9:20am.
thanks
Nicola
Depends what time you are flying, but most of the main shops are open from about 7am until 9-10pm so you'll be fine with an 0920 departure. Refreshments and WH Smiths are open from about 5am (been there at that time to watch them open!!). For a list of shops, refer to the Manchester Airport website.
