Check out Monarch for the Marinha Dourada, £24 per night. When I asked earlier this year they were asking R3000 per night direct with the hotel.
Made up for you Dave.
Thanks Papa !

I had a few looks at Qatar site, but my laptop is haunted and tempremental and played up every time I went near.
I'm happy with the price, and if its 20kg so be it,just glad to be booked, any idea if its 2 or 3 hours before
flight that you need to check in........
The 20kg is going to be a challenge for us mainly because I have so much heavy photographic gear. Hand luggage allowance is 7kg so that's better than most charter flights.
The good thing about Goa is that it's going to be warm and you can buy cheap ( and if necessary disposable ) clothes when you get there.
My o/h usually takes a full collection of cures and remedies plus suntan lotions, insect repellants, shampoo's etc etc plus a library of poolside reading. We should start a new thread on what you really need to take to Goa and to be honest, the list is probably quite small.

I have just phoned them as OH was panicking about tickets not arriving, they immediately e mailed our e tickets,
I have pre-booked our seats, given them our meal requests etc - they are so nice and helpful. I dont know if everyone is aware - I wasn't!! they do need your passport details beforehand, makes for smoother check in apparently.
We have managed to book our favourite apartment, I am really happy!!!, so much so think we may get two trips in next season
When I chose my seats there were only a couple taken so far but thats the 8/11.
I wasn't aware about the passport bit , thanks.
You can check in on line before you get to the airport too, must admit I have never done so, so any info would be appreciated. I did hear Simon Calder the "Indepenant" travel writer say you have to be careful about checking in on line though as you have to be able to do it for the return flight too which may not be possible.( Might have been talking about Ryanair or Easyjet though)
cheers
Dave
Manchester airport Travelodge has rooms for £19 at the beginning of January.
C.G.
we stopped there twice last season and it is so much better than having to travel from home for an early flight. We also booked an evening meal at the same time as making the reservation.Last time it was £8 each for 2 courses but now it is only £6.
We were lucky enough to get a £9 room when the sale was on for when we go in January but at the moment the rooms are £32 for the end of October when we have our first trip so I am hoping there will be another sale!!!
There is a shuttle bus from the Travelodge to the airport which costs £7 but we got a taxi which ended up being only £5.
Not sure how we are getting to the airport yet, may take the train this time, will check out the car parks recommended here though. oooh isnt it exciting
Ive got more of an update from Trading Standards and Tickets to India, but I am still waiting for Tickets to India to phone me back today so I will post again when ive got all the information together.
The Tickets to India fiasco relates to our March holiday. We booked direct with Qatar Airways for our 3 weeks in November. We are flying from Heathrow on Saturday 21st, so hope to see some HTers over in Goa (or possibly even at Heathrow). We've already selected our seats on the aeroplane from Heathrow to Doha and then again from Doha - Goa, and the same for the return flights.
they sent them over while i was on the phone and sure enough 30kgs for each leg!
well chuffed!
Couldn't spare us a few KG's ??????
also phoned qatar on the 0870 number as all the landlines were constantly engaged or redirected to the 0870 anyway,
asked if we could pre-book our seats, no problem. booked 2 on the outside for man-doh in a 2-4-2,
apparently the doh-goa is a 3-3 config so got 2 together by the window.
no hassle and no charge, on the phone for 2/3 minutes tops.
if this is how scheduled is compared to charter, i'll not be flying charter again!
