Met up with some of the regular staff and those who go will know who I mean, Yilmaz, Shooie, Ali etc at the entertainment and Serkan, Erkan, Cumali on the bar and restaurant side.
As it was only a year since our last (eight), visit we easily settled into our routine. Sunbathing, reading and swimming for the wife, sunbathing, reading , swimming, darts, waterpolo for me. Now I hear many of you saying is that it ? well yes ... we are here to relax and chill and Turquoise does it for us every time.. Not forgetting of course the ocassional vist to the bar ... 4.50 ytl for a pint, 6.50 for vodka etc. (exchange £1 = 2.52 ytl)
Eating out was excellent yet again. Ate in Club Turquoise three times and the food was excellent. Also did Le Madri (the old one and the new one), The Garden, Uno Momento, Cousins, Faros Brothers Fun Pub, Taj Mahal and those who have read my previous posts will recognise some old favourates there .. and you would be correct. Also made our usual trip through to Icmeler for a meal and we were heading for the Love Boat when I remembered somebody on here recommended Chef next door. Ate in there and had a great meal. Would certainly go back.
The subject of wine has been raised on HT and we always have wine with out meals. Had Villa Doluca, Senfoni, Villa Neva, Angora and one other but the name escapes me and have to say enjoyed them all. The best ? well in fact it was the bottles of Chardonnay we got in Club Turquoise for 28.50 ytl. I know it's a bit dearer but we enjoyed it.
Had a day in Turunc going via the taxi boat. Took Yasar the managers eight year son and we had a great day on the beach swimming and skimming stones ! Lovely place.
Got out and about a bit walking and on bicycle and continue to see many improvement in the resort. Veronicas just up from Taj Mahal has been refurbished and is looking good and the park area opposite is all now finished with their fountains and cafe area.
Went on a boat trip with friends we met previously from Newcastle. Bit different this time as we had to travel over the mountains past Icmeler to a small port I didn't get the name of but we cruised the Agean Sea as opposed to the Med at Marmaris. Fantastic day. AI at £18 each (yes I know you can get it cheaper ..) but there was only 24 of us there and the meal was the best I have ever had on what must be now 6 boat trips. Excellent value and did the usual swimming in the sea with a stop at Selimiye, lovely place too.
Private transfer back to the airport with the cooling system much appreciated after the extremely hot weather we had. Some days it was approaching 50 degrees. First Choice flight on time and returned home very early the next day and very tired indeed.
Well rattled on too much as usual, but in closing had a great time and can't see any changes being planned for next year.
