ok not my area which is Turkey but at least people know where you are looking now.
I remember going to Benidorm in 1981 and MASA where building on the Costa Blanca then. They had a big presentation within the hotel we were staying at, it seems like they have been in business a long time. Cheers Jayjan
Use your head - Choose an area - Visit the area and not just in summer - Absorb everything. Visit local bars, chat, see, think, feel, experience etc
Location is important.
1. Can the apartment be rented all year round?
2. Are supermarkets, shops, restaurants open all year round here?
3. Is there an airport within 1 hour drive with all year round flights?
4. Is the area deserted from October - May?
5. Is the nearest beach safe?
6. What is the price of similar apartments/villas in the area?
7. Are there people who will clean, service, repair your apartment?
8. Is the apartment complex occupied all year round?
9. Where can you source holidaymakers/tenants?
10. Employ an independent trusty solicitor to represent you.
11. What are the other apartment owners like?
12. Is there a downturn/upturn in the market here affecting resale value?
13. Do you want the area to be like Santa Ponsa etc?
Toffeemen - Think hard and objectively - do you want to live in a Spanish housing estate with people who purchased in a hotel?
I don't think so - So you will have to do a bit of legwork, but it will be worth it.
Thanks for that Leprosy - only in the 1st stages of contemplating purchasing abroad at the moment but I will take your advice on board.
I have a house in Estepona in CDS. When I see the price of property locally and then compare it to the price being advertised in UK I am astounded at the difference. Typically a new build 2 bedroomed apartment can be up to 350000 euros in UK, whereas locally an older similar property can be bought for 250000 euros or less. The message is come out INDEPENDENTLY and look around in the local agencies. Look at the "se vende" notices in windows and phone directly.
There are two companies known as MASA. Firstly there is GrupoMasa. This company is a developer / builder. Secondly there is MASA International - a property agent which may or may not sell Grupo Masa houses.
I recently read of problems of illegal build with this co. sorry can't remember where I read it. Do a lot more research.
As per my earlier posting, we need to be sure which of the two companies we are talking about
