Masp/tabaiba princess is a great hotel but wouldnt hold out much hope for many youth in there. More a couple/family orientated hotel. Located (obviously) in maspalomas, where the sand dunes are, a short taxi ride to Playa Del Ingles for all the nightlife which should be very busy in June.

My parents are staying at the hotel at the moment and they're less than impressed with it.

Dad said it's position and hotel itself is lovely BUT the basic stuff that you would expect a 5 star hotel to have well and truly covered leaves a lot to be desired - chipped plates and bowls and cracked cups aren't what you would expect to see in a good quality hotel.

Dad isn't impressed with the food either - for him food is an important part of the holiday - just one thing he mentioned was that on a morning he's searching thru' the bacon trying to find pieces that haven't been incinerated - we expect that on a Friday afternoon in our local Asda cafe but not in a good quality hotel.

The Maspalomas Princess is a 4 star hotel not a 5 star hotel, just thought I would point that out.

Ahhhh - it's the 5 T's that Thomson award it!

Still you don't expect cracked and chipped crockery do you - aside from the fact that they become a breeding ground for all sorts of horrible things, it's the sort of thing you might expect to see in a greasy spoon (and even then I doubt it) but not in a good quality hotel.

I would agree with that you wouldn't expect to find it, however sometimes these things do go unseen. The hotel caters for alot of people and I'm sure sometime errors like this would get by without people seeing them all your parents have to do is mention it to the Maitre D and he would quickly rectify the problem - If they don't know they can't fix it!! In all the times I've eaten there I've always found the food to be of an high standard and I've eaten there alot of times yes it's international food as it's an international hotel and again if there was something there that I did not like the look of I would mention it to the Maitre D - however I realise not everybody is like this.

I think as Dad said when they stayed at the Ora Negro Hotel in Tenerife - someone was out with a thermometer on all food on hot plates at all meal times and if food wasn't right, it was removed and replaced.

Dad said there was no sign of the Maitre D so he'd taken the offending cracked cup to Reception and pointed out that there were plates, bowls and cups out with chips and cracks. In his words "What's the point of having palm trees in your reception when you can't get the basics right" And he's right really - it may be a large hotel catering for many guests but they should have someone who regularly checks the state of crockery - even if I was in Debenhams Cafe or Asda's Cafe I wouldn't expect to receive my dinner on a cracked or chipped plate so I certainly wouldn't expect to find them in a decent hotel!

My parents stayed here a few years ago and said the place was amazing and food was out of this world. Some people can be a little fussy with things but i wouldn't let it put you off staying here. They are staying there again in July and can't wait :sun2

Beautiful hotel. Great meals. Not far from anywhere. Entertainment is okay. Drinks are expensive. Plenty of sun loungers. Check out the reviews on tripadvisor. It really is a superb hotel.
