I don't mean this to sound rude, but McDonalds is the last place I'd visit when on holiday! I can't remember the last time I went to McDonalds in the UK, let alone Turkey! There's far too many good restaurants in Marmaris / Icmeler to consier McDonalds in my opinion, hangover or not.
I would personally rather starve than eat in McDonalds! I never eat rubbish food at home so there is no way I would eat it whilst on holiday. I prefer to eat decent food.
I agree completely with Dazbo and Kedi - I don't eat in these places at home and certainly wouldn't dream of doing so on holiday. When I'm abroad, I want to eat the local food. I absolutely hate the proliferation of McDonalds and so on right across the globe - thank goodness there are still some places where you don't see the dreaded Big Macs!
We visited one the McDonalds in Marmaris once while there but only for a milk shake which was very refreshing and better than some milk shakes bought elsewhere
Not trying to wind you up here but going to Turkey and looking for McD's with all the food that Turkey offers is a no no from me. That's like going abroad and sitting in a British pub all day drinking John Smiths. WHY!
MacDonalds? Jesus wept, I wonder how it could possibly be that Brits are considered unclassy on holiday
Support the local economy in Turkey by going to Turkish eateries where the kebabs and dolma, amongest other such delicious Turkish specialities, are finger licking good, and the money supports the Turkish families who rely on it for their livelihood.
Even if the kids complain, introducing them to other cuisines is as educational as it is nutritious, and the locals will gladly try to cater to children's palates.
Also a good cure for a hangover is trying not to drink too much the night before!!!
sad sad sad
we never ever,go into a McDonalds at home.it's just something we never do,BUT we have eaten them in,hawaii, san francisco, bangkok, malaysia, mexico, because at that time,it's what suited us,we even ate a kfc,in beijing in april.does that mean,we are not classy?
we had been on a long day trip,in hawaii & our grandaughter was tired,so we weren't going out, that night,so on the way back to the hotel,we grabbed a take out from McDonalds, where is the harm in that?
san francisco,we did the night tour of alcatraz, again kiera was tired,as the jet lag was a killer,so thats another instance, when a McDonalds, suited us,again, does that mean we are not classy?
do we ever eat them,in this country,NO,going on holiday,is all about doing different things,so maybe getting a McDonalds, could come under that category for us
sorry to go on,but i don't like it,when people rubbish, what others choose to do.

Well said ardath
Someone would have to pay me to eat a McDonald's. It is the last place on earth I would choose to eat, and even worse on holiday with all that gorgeous mediteranean food. People actually pay the earth for this rubbish at Turkish airports and then moan about the cost Don't buy it then, try some real food for a change.
Wow, bet Rob wished he had never asked... I'm personally not a patron of MacDonalds, that said I remember in 2000 we had a vote as to where we would eat the last night. From memory I had had something like 12 lovely steaks in a variety of restaurants and to be honest wanted something simple. The vote meant that me and the youngest went to MacDonalds with the Mrs and the oldest going to 'The Garden'. Never been back I have to say but I remember I thoroughly enjoyed my burger at the time and so did my daughter. My point however is, each to their own, if Rob wants to go the MacDonalds then that's his choice and if his holiday in Turkey is more enjoyed through doing this then so be it. Marmaris has many critics and there is an abundance of posters on HT who say they would never go there. Thankfully there are many of us who know it's delights and will visit on a regular basis. So, come on, let Rob enjoy his Big Mac ...
I won't go to McDonalds but its not as if I have never been in my life before. There wouldn't be a McDonalds if nobody went there. Its probably a place for younger folks mainly. (In the days when you went to discos and not nightclubs, I used to love a burger and onions at 2am )
Well said Wilson - he is using his own money after all - many people think that Marmaris would not be considered classy and more like Blackpool !!!! - although personally I love it - but as they say you pay your money and you take your choice.
We visited mc donalds a couple of times last year, also the many turkish eateries, well after all you have to keep everyone happy on their hols and if they want a mac then a mac it is
When I was experiencing the hangover from hell last summer, Mcdonalds was all I could stomach in Marmaris.
We only go to Mac Ds for ice cream and I have been in many the world over.
I was just trying to make the point earlier that if you use McDonalds whilst abroad you are sponsoring a global organisation that does nothing to help the local communities in Turkey, sure it might employ a very small minority of the local population but it equally puts smaller eating establishments out of business by taking custom away from them, or undercutting them by making special offers they cannot possibly match without running at a loss. Of course it is up to the individual whether on not they take this on board when choosing where to eat, I suppose some simply see it as convenient and familiar, but for those who genuinely care about the local community they are visiting, the small amount of effort required to locate a Turkish restaurant/cafe serving the Turkish equivalent of fast-food is well worth it.
personally i would never eat in mcd`s or any other burger chain for that matter.
(i have seen the food prepared and how the animals are treated when at the slaughter
houses).
I`m big meat eater i`m not religous but the best meat i have ever tasted is always from turkey
where the animals i.e (lamb and chicken) are slaughtered and hung properly (halal).
I love my steaks and fish but burgers just do not do it for me unless made by my wife.
