Hi natrose ... restrictions apply to medications taken in liquid form only, not tablet form. For our Hand Luggage Q&As topic which outlines current restrictions, please click on the link in my signature below.

There are no problems taking medication on in hand luggage. I always take my medications in 2 weekly medidos boxes which I fill before i leave. Each days tablets have seperate removable strips which are much easier to carry around. Its also easier to remember what you`ve taken. I also take another supply of tablets in the original boxes which my husband carries in his hand luggage just in case anything happens to my bag (I believe in the belt and braces approach to everything). I also take a repeat prescription sheet, which proves the medication is for me and is essential for my health. The boxes are available from http://www.medimax.co.uk there is a pocket inside the box to keep your repeat prescription form. I only have tablets, not liquids so I can`t advise on that.
Slightly off topic, do make sure that your mum`s health issues are covered by her travel insurance under pre-existing conditions. You will pay a premium for insurance and may have to shop around but it`s not worth the risk to be not fully covered. :)

I take all my medicines in handbaggage, and carry the doctor's prescriptions as proof that they are prescribed to me and are necessary.

Liquids can be carried in handbaggage in containers up to 500 ml IF YOU HAVE A DOCTOR'S LETTER and a PRESCRIPTION. (My 150 ml bottle of Deroxat travels everywhere with me as handbaggage, but you should note that you need the doc's letter, even if there is less than 100 ml left in the bottle!)
