If you would like to see the real Spain then I would suggest you would not go wrong visiting Calella De La Palafrugell, Pals, Palamos, Begur area.
I've never visited beyond the first week of September but there is a very helpful poster on the Costa Brava forum (DeniseGirona) on Tripadvisor who advises that Begur is still open during October. If you post on there you'll be able to seek advise on the other areas.
I'm sure that if you do decide to visit the area that you will fall in love with this part of (real) Spain.
