hi firstly have you had your phone unlocked from your provider? if not i will probably not accept a local Sim card, if your provider allows for international roaming have your phone so set then provided it is DUEL or TRY band you can use it as it is...check your providers website for roaming details
I dont know how similar aussie mobiles are to UK ones but whe i go to greec,e i turn it on and it finds local providers, has not really ever cost me more than at home to send SMS, do know the vodafone features a lot in greece maybe if your with them it would be easier, best to ask your local shop or provider though
My future daughter in law is Australian and has used her mobile in Greece without any problem. It just finds a network automatically.I don't know about the comparative cost as she says that mobile charges in Australia tend to be dearer than here.On the other hand my son always buys a Greek sim card and finds that very cheap. As said before you just need to make sure your phone is unlocked.
i bought a greek sim card as it is definatly cheaper to use than the uk cards including vodafone. if your phone is unlocked than you can use a greek card. i know to send a sms back home to london with o2 cost 50p a text and you then have to pay if someone calls you. but using a greek card if anyone calls you from australia only they pay not you.
