Tracey as you've never flown before I'd still take a little something to eat just in case they've run out of sandwiches etc, which has happened to me before. Don't forget that you can't take drinks through security so if your airport has a Boot's store you can get a meal deal from there the same price as they charge in the high street shops.
Pop in there, just to be on the safe side. Also you won't have to wait for the trolley to come round. Nothing worse than being in the middle of the aircraft as the trollies start from the front and rear, meeting in the middle. You could be parched/starving and willing everyone to hurry up and get their order. You can still get a coffee/tea if you are no longer hungry.
