Although we enjoyed our holiday in Tunisia, we did not enjoy the airport and I thought people should be warned..... It took well over an hour to get through the queue for passport control after landing. Even then the bags were not yet unloaded. Air-conditioning very poor. On return, massive queues again. Duty-free queue so slow, my husband had to abandon his proposed purchases because flight called for boarding. So get in there quick if you want to buy something! Long slow queues for ladies loos, due to there only being 3 cubicles!
Fortunately, they are apparently building a new airport between Sousse and Hammamet, which will be 'the biggest in north Africa' so we were told. They certainly need it!
The guys on the desk at passport were a little scarey as well.
But i enjoyed my holiday so much that i would go back to this airport again
I've never had any problems with the people at passport control and usually just have a chat with them, but the men who stand outside Duty Free and insist on checking your bags to make sure you haven't stolen anything really get my back up.
I cannot be sure that it is true, but I heard that they are on the lookout for an English tourist who buys large quantities of Cedratine. Jenny x
Im afraid it is true !! we went to Tunisia end of July and on the way home in Monistir airport there were 2 men at the doors in the duty free shop that looked into your bags and checked your receipts.
i also got stopped by some guy who looked shadier than me,luckily the wife was following me out clutching the reciepts.
Jenny was only pulling my leg shellbarlow because I have developed a liking for Cedratine. She and I are old friends and rib eachother all the time - I'm not actually wanted by the police, either in Tunisia or the UK.Im afraid it is true !!
Had to queue at customs after landing a couple of times.
I always find the customs guys more very friendly too.
Although I cant comment on duty free shopping as I always do all the shopping I want in Monastir beforehand.
I think for a number of years they have checked your bags after coming out of Duty Free at least i can remember them doing it for the last 4 years, my son went running in this year to get a 2nd Chupa Chups Lolly (big lolly with 10 lollies inside) only to try running out after paying and they stood in his way poor lad looked heart broken he thought they wanted his lolly back (hes 13)
1 thing to mention our passports were attacked by our puppy so looked in a bad way we put covers on them to disguise the fact there were teeth marks all over them at Monastir airport they took them out of the covers and laughed at them, yet back in the uk we were asked to replace them, Officially Servisair said they were fine and would have no problems accepting them, just goes to show its harder to get into the uk then out.
How much would it cost for a Taxi from Monastir airport to the El Mouradi Palace Hotel in PEK.I would also like to know what the transfer time would be.
Thanks
Daveyboy
I don't know that particular hotel and taxi prices have gone up, but unless anyone can give you definitive up-to-date info I would think no more than about 20 dinars. I recommend you try offering no more than half of what they are asking and work up from there. Start off with "Aslemma, El Mouradi Palace, kadesh?" (Hello ...... how much?) Whatever they say you reply 'la, gahli barcha' (no, too expensive). Bear in mind however that prices go up in the evening. Transfer time will be about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic etc.
