I'm staying in Montmartre for a couple of nights very soon. Just wondering are there any recommendations anyone could pass on for restaurants/bistros or music bars in the area, to save us having to go further afield at night?
Also is it safe to walk about here at night?!
Hope someone can help. Thanks.
( I'm posting this on the city break thread as well, but there seems to be more responses on this one)
hi - all I can say is that you will be spoilt for choice, though I'm afraid I can't recommend anything in particular. however its a really busy area with loads of places. You will pay more just for being in the Place du Tertre and I would just try and keep an eye out for restaurants which seem to have french people in rather than be full or tourists - not sure if thats poss in Montmartre though. Try the tripadvisor site to see if that has any more suggestions.
Thx for the reply Gil and of course you were quite right. We were absolutely spoiled for choice. Spent a wonderful couple of days in this great city and had a couple of really good (& good value) meals in the Montmartre district. I loved it. Strangely last time I was there was about 10 years ago & was not impressed with Montmartre, but had a completely different opinion this time. Have I changed or has it??
Anyway can't wait to return!
Hi Tatty,
If you're in Montmartre, you'll have no trouble finding a restaurant...there are hundreds! We had a very good meal in a small Bistro..Le pyramidi I think it was called. A 19euro menu with a good selection & excellent house wine.
If you've done the Eiffel tower/Louvre/ etc, etc I'd recommend a trip out to La Defense to see some stunning modern architecture.........a great contrast to 'old Paris'.
Regardless of what you choose to do I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time. It's hard not to in Paris!
Glad you enjoyed it - I go there every year - unfortunately I have 44 school kids in tow, so its not quite the same, though I do manage a coffee on the Place du Tertre!
i have just posted a thread asking for this very advice: I'll give the suggestions here a try thankyou. Le pyramidi might be an option, i'll Google it.
