Poor chap. What an awful way to end the holiday. Hope he recovers soon. Having had campylobachter and feeling like I wanted to die myself I've got a good idea how he is feeling. No doubt with the correct antibiotics it won't be too long before he is back on his feet.

will do betty

we think that we know where he got it from.

We stayed up north on a (not so quiet night) in a beach shack and we ate at somewhere called *** on the beach.

i ordered chicken tikka, and came out in the form of a kebbab, i watched them cook it on a bbq, and it was massive.

I started to eat it and it was fine, but i couldnt' finish it, so i passed it to mark who, said that when he got to the last piece, he was chewing it, and as he swallowed it he felt it was a bit chewy.

We think that this is where he got it from.

Were also guessing that the last piece didn't manage to get any heat and be cooked on the bbq.

Everything that we ate after that was at east meets west, souymans kitchen, after seven and he ate meat at all of these.

On the saturday we had a meal at bobbys, and then went to the market, we'd only been at the market around 1 hour when he started to sweat. We made it back to highland beach and mark went to bed. Then started the sickness and the other.

We had to be out of highland the next morning for 8.00am, i can honestly say i don't know how he made it home. I felt so sorry for him on the flight on the way home.

last night he said to me, i'm just glad that i got this, because now i know how bad it is, i would have hated you to go through this.

He has to go to the doctors tomorrow, for some strong antibotics.

thanks for your good wishes and text messages.

But we still had a fantastic time in india.

Due to libel problems we cannot allow places to be accused I'm afraid.

Does anybody know HOW long it takes for salmonella to 'show' itself? I thought it was 24 to 48 hours....? If so...then I THINK it was on the Monday that Wickeds went to stay up North...and we're talking Saturday when he first started showing signs of it :( . Let us know how he gets on today Chris!!! :kiss
Update.....I did a google..and not sure of T&C's about pasting it here...so I'll just say that from what I found it says that symptoms of food poisoning begin eight to 72 hours after eating food contaminated with Salmonella. It also says that it is found in egg yolks from infected chickens, in raw and undercooked poulty and in other meats (!!), dairy products, fish, shrimp and many more foods. Just wondering Chris...did he have any icecream from the sellers on the beach? Or prawns etc in the run up? (OMG..not intended as a pun!! :yikes )

For libel reasons I cannot allow an individual restaurant to be accused on the forum of being the cause of it. I'm sure you understand why.

I understand fiona now why i can't name the restaurant.

In hospital they said that it can take a week to start.

No he didn't eat any eggs or any prawns.

And we def didn't eat any ice cream.

the last meal we had was at bobbys shack and we both ate the same, this was on the sat aft, mark was looking forward to having something to eat at the market but he didn't.

the night before (friday) was at souymans and again we both had steak.

the day before (friday) we ate at bobbys shack and both had soup for starters with bread, we were saving ourselves for souymans. Then we shared a cheese n ham toastie

On the thursday we ate at calamari shack and both had soup for starters with bread, we were saving ourselves for tea, which we had at after 7 again both of us had steak.

Wednesday we ate at rouples shack, we both had soup again and mark had calamari rings with chips, tea was at east meets west, mark had some type of curry made with lamb on the bone.

Tuesday, we stayed round our pool and shared a burger with chips, during the day we ate some crisp, then at night we ate at over the flames, mark again had steak.

Monday was our night in the beach shack and this is the night that mark had some of my chicken.

We never went down for breakfast, so we didnt' have any eggs. And looking back this piece of chicken he thought wasn't quite cooked was the only piece of chicken we could think of.

it really doesn't matter now, as he has got slamonella and there isn't anything you can do about it.

Bet your all thinking god they eat real well. ;)
