Hi Danny. Just back from a trip out there and could not find the Tex-Mex restaurant you thought so highly of. Just where IS it on the not-so-helpful map they have on their website?

Hello Tony,

I walked along the front, until I was past fish alley and McDonalds etc. At this point you'll see a few cafes etc, one of them is called "scoffers" continue walking for about 20 metres and theres a street that turms right with a signpost, (The mexican is on the signpost) however if you turn right and walk 50/60 meters up there, you'll come to a small square on your left with a supermarket, the Mexican is next to that mate

Hope this helps
Danny

Thanks, Danny. The map is worse than useless. Will now be able to find it when I am out again later this year.

Hope you enjoy it and you simply must try the frozen Margherita's ! 8)

Hi Danny, just out of interest was the apartment you stayed in at the Monte Canada complex? A superb place to stay, although the walk back uphill certainly keeps you fit...but it's good for burning off those extra calories put on due to the cheap menu del dia's that are available!
Benalmadina always strikes me as an excellent place for a meal by the harbour, but Im not sure if I could stay there for a full duration of a holiday.
I returned from Torreblanca on Tuesday and coincidentally also walked through that park on the way down from Arroya Del Miel towards Benalmadina harbour. I was amazed at the number of chickens that were strolling around amongst the tourist! They wouldn't last long if that was in the UK.
I also visited tivoli world for the first time last week. It's mainly aimed at young kids, but there's plenty to do for adults. There were no queues for any of the rides so I had great fun getting soaked on the log flumes (3 excellent drops) but the best of all was the Tivoli dragon..that things scary..as was that evil thing that lifts you up to what seems like 20000 feet (with legs dangling) and then drops you down to the bottom..i must have lost 5 years off my life going on that thing.

Hello Quaker, it was indeed the Monte Canada, or as they say in Spain the Montay Canyada. My folks weren't too good with the hill, going down was OK but they prefered to get a taxi back. I walked the long winding road to the beach on the first day, thankfully we were shown the shortcut , going down under the railway line !, which took about 2/3rds of the time of the walk to the beach/supermarket.

The Canada complex was great with pool and tennis courts etc, and as I stated in my review, Apartment was without doubt the best I have stayed in !

I much prefer the short cut under the railway bridge, to the rear exit down the windey road...it's ok walking down it but im always knackered by the time I get up it..which I guess is good when your piling on the pounds due to eating too much in Spain :O)
I rent out an apartment in Monte Canada and was probs there when you where (from 17th-27th Sept)..the pool was a bit cold tho, when I jumped in for the first time I nearly went straight to the bottom...it was icy cold..but after a few mins it wasn't so bad!
Besides the bank, I find the location to be quite good, being away from the hussle and bussle of Fuengirola, but close enough to a lot of bars and restaurants! Strawberries bistro at the bottom of the windey bank is excellent...would deffo recommend that place to anyone.

Strawberries is one of my fave restaurants too, although can be a bit too much to bear in the summer.

The only downside is that he doesnt have enough tables.

Booking essential!

I was going to try Strawberries after the recommendations in here, but everytime I went past it was closed ? and I couldn't see any opening times.

Happy Hols

Sorry for the vagueness of the maps trying to locate La Abadia de San Antonio TEX-MEX restaurant. The site was put together in a hurry and I used the map from the reverse of their business card, but I am afraid that there are no close "landmarks".
A new large scale map is now on the site at http://www.abadiasanantonio.com/map1.htm
It may take a little longer to load, but I hope that it makes the restaurant easier to find.

Cheers,

John
