I suppose you can cancel, but will risk loosing any deposit you have paid, or more depending how close you cancel to the departure date.

Well I paid in full, at the Thompson's branch.

Urgh, the more I read about it the more depressed I feel. It's my first holiday away from my parents, so I don't wan't it to be wrecked by bug-infested rooms. :(

I should also add that it's been booked for 8th May, and will be over my 19th birthday.

Why not ask for a change of accommodation instead of cancelling? Give them a call and ask if there is anywhere else available.

Hi Esmeria, I have sayed at the President 3 times, and it was fine! The rooms were clean, although once we were in a rather small room, and the food was good too. If you have been put off so much, ask for a change of hotel.........you can always try lol........good luck....Linda x

Hi Linda

I'd be grateful if you'd post a review for the hotel HERE.

Many thanks.

Wasnt that the same hotel that was on tv recently? The one on BBC? I might be wrong, but at the end it won hotel of the year?

Hope your holiday goes ok??!!!

LindaSmith: thank you for the reassurance. I reread the reviews on the hotel, and realised that most of them were rather niggly little things that could potentially happen anywhere.

Out of interest, when did you stay at The President?

Also realize that the ratio of complaints to compliments when it comes to reviewing ANYTHING tends to be skewed more towards the complaints. The reason? People are far more likely to go out of their way to air their complaints than they are to pay a compliment.

Hi Esmeria, it was May last year when we stayed last time, but my neighbour was there for her birthday on 25th March. She was there from Mon-Fri and thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the other posts is correct too, the President was featured on BBC, and it did win hotel of the year. I also agree that you mostly get negative comments, a lot of people are quick to condemn........but slow to praise. Can I also add that I am quite fussy myself, and when I go abroad (3 times per year) I won't stay in anything but 4* or 5*. Obviously you don't expect that for the price you pay at the President......but it does offer excellent value for money and good accommadation, well that's my opinion, lol. And hear endeth the gospel according to Saint Linda lol. If you do decide to go.........have fun.......Linda x

Thanks for all the advice. I'm not nearly dreading it as much now!

I'm not expecting the Ritz, but not a complete hell-hole either. Thankfully it doesn't sound all that bad. :)

Will be going on 8th-12th May, so will report back once I've returned.
