Booked holiday independently, hotel with holidaynights.co.uk.
I have just returned from Royal Garden Hotel Marmaris 4 star all inclusive, I booked this one week holiday in April, however after flying from Belfast all Monday night(31st August) and arriving at the hotel 8am on Tuesday (1st Sept) morning we were told there was no room available for us and that they were sending us to another hotel nearby for one night, they claimed "they needed our help as some guests had been in a traffic accident and had not yet checked out, but that we would have a room the next day, they also replied when asked if any other guests had been affected "yes".
I remained adamant that I wasn't moving and had stayed at the hotel before therefore this was why I booked this hotel and not another. We sat in reception until our rep appeared, she was useless and did nothing just said these things happen and to enjoy ourselves, we are on holiday.
The hotel we were made stay in for the night was filthy and disgusting, I took photos as evidence. We were provided with an all inclusive band for both hotels and told we could use the Royal Garden, however with no room card for the Royal Garden we were unable to use the bar, therefore we spent the first day between both hotels and could not enjoy our holiday. Staff and guests at the Royal Garden made us feel uncomfortable as we were wearing two AI bands and we felt like we were doing wrong.
I went to the Royal Garden first thing on Tuesday morning demanding a room and luckily enough we received one 30 mins later, with a small bottle of red wine in the room, they said they were providing us with a pool view room for our trouble, even though we had already booked a pool view room when booking. Through talking with other guests at the hotel a family we spoke to that arrived before us that morning had the same problems with "no rooms available" therefore they ended up in one room until the second became available. Any guests we had spoken to hadn't heard of a traffic accident and alot of guests had heard about us being moved and that infact we were the only couple this happened to not others like we were told at reception. Another family we spoke to mentioned that they complained the room was too small and they asked to be moved and received the honeymoon suite. A large group arrived the night before we were due to leave an I got talking to them also finding out they did not have the number of rooms available that they had booked until the next day. Guests themselves came to the conclusion that rooms were not cleaned therefore this was why they weren't available. Can anyone advise me of this or if I can do anything?
Thank you
First things first - did you complete a complaints form in the resort?
No I didn't, I didnt even know what rights I had or anything as holidaqys have always been fine before, the rep was hopeless in advising us of anything also. However when handed a questionnaire when checking out I made sure I wrote all on it, although I know its no use.
You find that you'll be struggling to put any claim against the Company as usual procedure is that those incidents that have not been reported through the complaints form in the resort will not be entertained.
I am so annoyed as the rep was hopeless and didnt say anything about what we could do or anything. I have emailed the hotel and the insurance company.

Potentially the pit fall is that you have booked a DIY type holiday and this site acts only as an Agent of the hotel. Certainly the web site t&c state that the reservation
Holiday Nights is a trading name within the On Holiday group. You will find a contact email address here Potentially the pit fall is that you have booked a DIY type holiday and this site acts only as an Agent of the hotel. Certainly the web site t&c state that the reservation
. As such I fear your complaint will be redirected to the hotelier and any redress sort with them - not an easy matter and a possible "blank wall" might be put up.will be directly with the Accommodation Provider whose Accommodation you are booking. At the time of making any such reservation you are entering into a contract with the Accommodation Provider and not with Holiday Nights
I'm afraid the only way you can seek compensation is to sue the hotel in Turkey.
In future, book a UK package holiday, so you can sue the tour operator if needed.
Best regards,
