lez
Aw lez, that's lovely-I hope you are right (I'm sure you are).x
Just returned from 2 weeks in Goa with our two sons (8 and 10) we were worried about taking them too - what with the heat/flight time/Malaria tabs etc. but having been to Goa (before Kids) we were sure they would love it and they did!!! - they both enjoyed every minute from being on the beach, chatting to the beach sellers and bartering with them (never a dull moment!!) also the visit to the spice Plantation and Elephant wash & ride. they also realised how lucky they are compared to some of the poor young kids their age and less who work on the beaches selling ice creams/cashew nuts etc..(We kept on buying cashews even though we don't really like them !!!!!)
They are still moaning about taking the malaria tablets now we are home though!! (thats kids for you ) Don't worry - your son will love it I'm sure!!!
chilly x
poipleshadow-Thankyou for your kind offer to come to the slums. I really would like to take you up on that as it is something we talked about doing. Perhaps I can bring some clothes/toys/anything you can't get there. Let me know as I am very interested
(Sorry) please email me through the website (see my signature below) and let me know when you're coming,
Thanks
It was VERY hot so we did have to watch them on that score, but apart from that, nothing worried me. We didn't take antimalarials but just covered up at dusk and escaped with very few bites.
Just send MIL a postcard and be grateful she's not going with you
Glad you had a great time
So glad you all have had great hols there recently. I am sooooo looking forward to going in Feb!
My decicion on goa is i am drawn to it peacful mystical unusual place different culture, spices all the smells and madness and the main reason i want my kids to see what other children do not have. All my kids say is your so unfair mum if they dony get what they want .spoilt little brats.he he.
when i was a little girl my parents took me to the mountains of yugoslavia where my grandmother lived, and i remember it today, the scarfs they wear round their heads goatheard to the mountains, the vineyard, the bread they bake ,in a outdoor oven .......memories are unforgettful, where as i been to benidorm in a hotel eating english food!! how un memorable!!!!
i hope going to goa wll be in my kids minds for many years to come i love it before i have even gone.and i hope your child does too.
The one thing I will say about taking your child to Goa is just do it, It is a life changing experience for them.
My 2 children went for the first time in 2003.
When we arrived home I noticed the change in their attitudes (not that they were bad kids anyway).
But they are better people for their visit, they appreciate what they have & would swap any amount of Christmas presents to holiday in Goa every year.
Maybe you should let your mother in Law read this thread & maybe her attitude would change.
Best of Luck anyway, Have a great time.
Regards
Stewbacca
