Negative Vibes

Dont worry. Its a great Island and I would have said particularly suited to the younger family. Most hotels, apartments are low rise so it doesn't have the built up feel of the Costas. I would assume as every week goes by the weather will be get better & better. :D

Haven't been to Cala n' Porter, but S'Algar where we were was nice even tho I had read some negative reviews before I went. We hired a car and went to Son Bou, Binibeca, Mahon, Cidudella, Arenal d'en Castell, Fornells, Cala n' Blanes(or might have been Blanca :hmmm ). All of which I would have been happy to stay in.

The one down side is it's a bit expensive to eat out. It probably costs about the same as here, but the difference is at home you wouldn't be eating out 14 nights on the trot. (unfortunately :( )

If I went back, would probably go Half Board/AI but our kids are 13 & 11, which is a different matter from 2 adults & a 4 year old.

Relax and enjoy. I'm sure you'll have a ball. :D :D :D

Billw you will be really unlucky if you get bad weather in June.Although we have not stayed in Calan Porter we have visited and it certainly is an attractive resort.Restaurant prices will be similar to the UK.The trouble with the local supermarkets is they are no more than local corner shops and you pay corner shop prices. If you get the chance to hire a car go to one of the large hypermarkets and stock up,you will save yourself about 35%.

Don't panic - you'll be fine. It's warmed-up nicely now and this is a great time of year with it never too hot (save that for August). I went to Menorca three years in a row and loved it. It's a slower pace than Majorca and if you hire a car you can get to some stunning beaches. Cal'n Porter is fine so long as they clear the seaweed (not always that bad); Cala Galdana to your west is very picturesque. If you can get up to the North side I recommend La Vall - you pay 5 euros toll on the track to the beach but wow! No umbrellas, no kiosks, just a mile of white sand and lovely shallow warm water - perfect for the kids but take a picnic!
The Binebeca chain to your East are also kid friendly. Think about buying a couple of beach umbrellas from the DIY place in Mahon - it'll save you a fortune in hire charges on teh beach (8 euro a time last time I went).
Enjoy.

I agree with all of the above...you may just need a jumper/jacket for the evenings.

And re prices...islands (especially smaller ones) are ALWAYS more expensive than the mainland because everything has got to be shipped over.....
Edit....P.S. hope you have a great time!
