Great choice ! Lovely place especially if you don`t want to be overrun by "headbangers" ! Use Balcon de Europa as your focal point. There are plenty of restaurants in this immediate area and lots of street entertainment. Try heading to the streets past the white church and you will find some lovely restaurants and tapas bars. There is the main beach - playa Burriana, this can get very busy but has loads of beach front shops, showers, etc. There is another very good beach to the south side of the town which is very good also. If you are more adventurous there is a naturist beach about 10 min drive northwards just before the tunnell !
Very steep road down to it though ( not that I`d know anything about this beach though !! )

Thanks for that! I'm sure we'll sniff out the bars!
Will you be there in September?

By the way, I don`t know if your`e male/female, young/old, but you Have to go see a Flamenco show in the town ( near the Balcon ) as it`s a fun night out in it`s own right or good as a starter for somewhere else, and entrance usually is free or else comes with some free drinks.

Oooh no. We're very careful... sun kissed goddess's we'll be! If you believe that you'll believe anything! No doubt we'll be bright red lobsters on the first day and then have to stay in the shade for the next 13 days!

LOL ! Well just make sure you`re careful of the "important" bits then !

Hi Kez,

Where in Nerja are you staying, (town, east or west)?
Have you got transport arranged from the airport?
I went last year and used the bus from the airport to Malaga to Nerja. A couple of €uros and a great way to see the countryside (with all the greenhouses :D ).

I'll be back again this year, if only for the tapas. :wow
A mixture of Spanish & British bars and plenty of good restaurants.
As tbone says use the 'Balcon' as your centre and radiate from there.

Keep a look out for the 'Menu of the Day'. It can range from €5 upwards for 3-5 course meals and a glass of wine. Very nice if you pick the right one.
:hyper I'm getting excited just talking about the hols.

Hi,
I papped my pantolonies the first time that I got a taxi from the airport to nerja.
The second time I just stood at the taxi rank smoking , loooking occupied until the oldest taxi driver stopped and I chose that one in the hope that he would drive slower than the others.
The third, 4th time I hired a car and drove myself!

You will enjoy it there . Its quiet but not too quiet, well, depends on what your looking for.

From the Balcon ( starting point) looking to the sea walk left for about half a mile than inland a little. Lots of real spanish tapas bars are here frequented mostly by the locals. They are , for want of a better word a bit scruffy but the locals are fine and at some bars a large wine and a tappa is 80c ...not a typo thats about 50p !

"livlier" bars are usually near the balcon.
