Carjet rent in Nerja.
http://www.carjet.co.uk/car-hire/spain/nerja/index.php
I have never booked or driven a car abroad before so these questions may appear dumb but I have no idea!
Hope this helps. Tony
Is there anyone else planning to be in nerja in september?
What is the driving like over there? Any good tips? Places to visit etc...
sorry to but in on your post but I am going to Nerja in Aug/Sept..... What is it like? Where are the places to go? How fit do you need to be to tackle the step hill I keep hearing about???? Think I will die in the mid-day sun!?!?
Best tip on driving there is to keep your cool. Spaniards tend to be much more forceful behind the wheel (some might call it aggression), so don't let anything get to you.
If you're a good driver in the UK, you'll be a good driver in Spain. And vice-versa, of course!
Trips? Where to start? Granada's an obvious choice, being so close, but you'll want to see the likes of Fuengirola, Marbella, Puerto Banus, and Ronda, too. And I wouldn't dissuade you from taking the toll road down to Gibraltar, even though the Rock seems to get a rough ride on this forum.
tA FOR THE INFO GUYS IT IS REALLY USEFUL. I WOULD NOT HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THE MANUAL DRIVE, DER!

Ruth Please do not post with your caps lock on.
I will be in Nerja in sept,Actually just come back.I love it there.the hill that seems to be on people's mind, the only one I can think of is heading down to burriana beach. And i would say it's not steep more gradual.I can't think of any more.
Cheers Inz.
We always stay around Torrablanca or Los Boliches.
Carjet are execellent, we used them last year, and we fly out later today, and are using them again, we found them much cheaper, if you book on line before you go.
Oh well, must carry on with my packing, hope the weather is nice and sunny for us.

Hi Ruth. You may find the information you require, plus much more, on this website.
Thank You for those tips guys. I have been trying to find a pocket guide to Spain. Does anybody have any recommended book that I can get in the shops here?
It will our first time in Nerja. Staying in a rented apartment Acapulco Playa Apartments - really looking forward to it. First time we have booked privately - not package.
The apartments are on cliff above Playa de Salon beach. Does anyone know how easy it is to get down to the beach?! are there steps? Also is this a good beach, sandy or pebbles?
Other questions - should we book our taxi transfer in advance - can do this on the internet, or wait til we get there and grab a taxi at the airport?
what would be a reasonable cost if we do?
Other concerns - we are flying with EUJet from Kent, UK. - which has an luggage allowance of 15KG per person, I'm already panicking about how I will get all my holiday clothes and essentials in under the allowance. My husband has suggested I pack in bin bags to reduce weight! As our suit cases which are meant to be lightweight weigh 7.5 KG without anything in them!!!
Anyway - pleased to hear from anyone who has been to Nerja, also interested in hearing about good places to go at night, food and drink, shows etc.

Playa el Salon
Salon beach is a very pretty bay located to the right of the Balcon de Europa, reached via a windy cobbled walkway, that runs off the Balcon between the hotel and the church. Playa el Salon is one of Nerja?s best-kept secrets. Many regular visitors never find this beach.
There's a list of taxi fares on http://www.andalucia.com/travel/airports/malaga.htm and it says that the fare to Nerja is 66-78 euros. Apparently the trip takes about 40 minutes. I don't know if it would be any cheaper booking in advance. I certainly know that there are always lots of taxis outside the airport and you're supposed to agree a price before to get in! We always hire a car as it's so handy to have one to see some of the area around where we're staying. There are some caves in the area which you might find interesting.
It's been some years since we went to Nerja and I have to say that in July and August the place is absolutely heaving and a lot of the streets are very narrow. In fact, we decided to follow a car in front to see if it could lead us out onto a wider road and ended up going the wrong way down a one way treet! Still, if you don't hire a car you won't have that problem. We stayed near Burriana Beach which is very nice but there are also some much smaller ones.
As you are flying with EUjet I hope you don't have any complaints like the ones on the Holidaytruths Complaints messageboard!
As for the luggage, 15kg is rather on the low side. If I were you I would ditch your luggage which, after all, means you'll only get around 7 kilos of clothes to take, what's that, a couple of pairs of shoes! Get a couple of fabric holdalls with wheels and a handle, much lighter and much better. Easyjet allowance is 20 kilos and the hand luggage can by any weight as long as you can lift it into the overhead locker yourself, although the bag can't be very big so they know it won't be that heavy, unless you're carrying a few bricks! If you're like me you'll spend weeks going through what you're going to wear, everything is essential of course! Then I go through it again and take things out and replace them with something else so I still end up with far too much. Nothing less than a different outfit every night as well as at least two changes of clothing during the day - when will we ever learn. One tip is to work out how much shampoo and stuff like that you'll need and decant it into very small bottles, after all, you don't surely need a full size bottle of shampoo for just a week (or two) anyway, if you run out you can always buy some more.
I'm sure by the time your holiday comes around you'll have whittled your clothing down to two pairs of shorts and a pair of flip flops!
hill or no hill.... i can't wait!!
As far as the hotel goes I asked for a room in the annex of Villa Flamenca. Will just have to hope my numbers come up trumps in the allocation lottery!! All I know is that we paid a little extra for a double room. So I have no idea where they will be located.... Finger crossed we get a nice room. But I guess it foes not matter as all we will be doing in there is catching up on sleep and .........
Happy Holidaying everyone.
