We fancy Turkey next year, but we've never been before.
Does anyone have any recommendations? We're not bothered about nightclubs, but like somewhere with plenty to do with nice restaurants.
Someone at Dave's work has some properties in Altincum(sp), which is supposed to be very nice.
What time of year is best?
Thanks is advance.

my favourite places are olu deniz ,akyaka and icmeler
icmeler is the busiest out of these 3, plenty of bars, shops, restaurants, nice beach, marmaris about 2-3 miles away, but that can be very busy and way too much hassle, icmeler you will get a small amount of hassle
akyaka is the quietest but so lovely, fab beach, restaurants along the seafront and riverside, very quaint, not many shops there though, no hassle here
olu deniz is quieter than icmeler, but has a lovely lagoon area and is very scenic, there are a fair few shops, bars etc there and hisaronu is a mile up the road which has loads of bars shops etc,not too much hassle ,
it really depends on what sort of thing you want
all 3 resorts have boat trips, akyaka and olu deniz are the nearest to the airport
ok.. icmeler sounds perfect for you........ try sept........... the sea is warm the temperatures are cooling but still shorts/tee shirts night time.......... kids have gone back to school and the prices tend to dip a bit..
Thanks peeps. I've had Icmelar recommended to me before.
2 weeks 1 is never long enough.
I have just been to Turkey for the first time & we stayed in icmeler and its my number one recommendation now!! And go for 2 weeks, we went for one & it flew!!
My daughter and I loved Icmeler. Beautiful scenery, even if you sit on the beach facing the sea. Amazing! Lovely restaurants... market worth a visit..... water taxi to Marmaris...... boat trips..... all in all very nice. We stayed in Marmaris and I wouldnt go back there but I definately would go back to Icmeler.... it has a different feel about the place compared to Greece (where we normally go) but it was a nice change and we did feel safe during the day, only occasionally hassled by touts and stayed close to the hotel at night most of the time (two women on our own) but we never ever felt threatened in any way. Have a good time. We went in October last year and the weather was lovely during the day but very cold at night.
hi if your mate has property in altinkum i would def go there it is a fantastic resort not as big as marmaris but just as nice as icmelor, we went this july and would retiurn tomorrow if i could i loved it there and have been to amrmaris icmelor many times ther are loads of nice restaurants a few night clubs and loads of trips to go on. the best thing about this resort is that they will come and pick yopum up from your accomodation and take you home from nearly any restaurant and even the beach in my oppinion you should give altinkum a try.
2 weeks 1 is never long enough.
2 weeks isn't long enough either I could have stayed another week in August/September

We were slightly concerned by recent events but lets hope we can enjoy our holiday like so many others have.

im staying at club candan....
im staying at the long beach apartments, heard alright reports on it but it was dirt cheap 600ish for me,my boyf and little boy 2weeks self catering.
hi mitchellclr, we're flying from Stansted and staying at Club Candan. Can't wait, 20 days!
stan..... if you see a quite lass, with a geordie, that will be me (the quite 1 that is).... haha.... if you see some 1 getting thrown in the pool, that will be her..... if you see two women being thrown off the premises, that will be both of us!! only joking, we are both quite canny really!!!!!
like you, i cant wait.... clare.
we stayed at the long beach apts a few years ago, we found them fine as we went in oct so was quieter but i would imagine they would be very noisey in the height of season due to their location at night. but no complaints from me re these apts, basic, clean and staff good although no entertainment. but good postition
clare - canny geordies? the only kind! throw her in the pool on day one and then i'll know who you are. the holidaytruths forums people will have to share a few drinks together.
I have to agree with nuttynet .Altinkum is brill .We were there in July, and August, and had a brilliant time. But being honest i preferred Marmaris better. If your thinking of going to Altinkum my advice is go.
We've booked Calis Beach for next year. All the reviews i've read have been fantastic. Quiet tranquil. Good beach. Plenty of restaurants. We've booked the Mutlu. Have a look at the link below.
