Just noticed on the Thomas Cook website that 2 new hotels are due to open in the Antalya region before the Summer 2008 season.
They are:
Royal Dragon Resort, Side - due to open April 2008
&
Alba Royal, Side - due to open May 2008
Just wondering if anyone knew anything about them - or were prepared to take a risk in trying a new untried hotel. You would imagine Thomas Cook have priced them cheaply for this year - so maybe a bit of value.
Also anyone know of any other hotels that will be ready.
Cheers
Here pictures of the royal dragon and alba royal still being built.
I would be willing to give them a try if the price was right and if they were in fact in Side and not miles away from the old town.
Depending on their price I would definitely give them a go. I've got two children getting married this year so it looks as if we might have to miss our annual trip to our beloved Turkey but come next year we'll be scanning those brochures and these threads with the best of them
I cant seem to find these hotels on the Thomas Cook website for April.Does anyone know when they will start using them?
Cost for 2 people to both on that date is £575 to Royal Alba & £588 to the Royal Dragon for 2 for a fortnight.
Both are 24 hour all inclusive including international brands.
I'd chance it if the price was right. Hotels in the Side/Lara area now seem to be the most expensive and upmarket in Turkey. Provided you are willing to accept that eveything may not be up and running and there might be a few teething problems, you might be able to go to a hotel that you wont be able to afford other years. I wouldn't book for the very first week it's due to open though, just in case it opens late and you are transfered elsewhere. (although in theory they should still put you in a comparable hotel, so you may still get a bargain if you see what I mean).
Thats a brilliant price from Glasgow.I still cant find it on TC website, even from Glasgow!.I will ask in TC Travel agency tomorrow. When I told my husband he said its worth travelling to Glasgow to get it at that price!.I like the Hemara in Side but its twice that price for those dates.
I asked in Thomas Cook travel agent this afternoon and they could not find the Dragon hotel. They said its either sold out or the opening date has been put back.Shame as I was hoping to bag myself a bargain!.
The dragon hotel is available on the thomas cook site as we were going to book there for july yesterday.
Why people can't find them because you need to put colakli in the resort box and not side.
The Alba Resort excludes international brands spirits and the Royal Dragon includes some international brands.
Two other new hotels.
Monachus Park
Alba Royal
I found the Dragon on Thomas Cook website which is £553 for 2 weeks in May from my local airport, but the fight times are dreadful.Ive heard Manos and Panorama are back on their own website and they had the Hemera for £555.Thomson also fly to Antalya from my local airport with much better flight times.Decisions decisions??
The Hemera hotel in Side is FANTASTIC - we stayed there last June and it really was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.
I have literally just looked on the thomas cook website and seen this hotel. The price is currently around £367 for a week in may 2008. For a brand new hotel, you gotta have good service, new staff and top quality food. Its possible i may just book it.
It looks like I have missed the boat!.I went into Travelcare today and it has gone up £100 to £650!.I will hang on to see if it comes down as I would rather pay that for the Hemera.
I can't price them against the hemera thomas cook doesn't seem to have any availabilty for the hemera this May. It looks like thomas cook has no avaialblity for the hemera until October from London airports.
We cant go from Gatwick in May,It has to be either Newcastle,Teeside or Manchester as we have friends coming with us.The Monachus park has been open a while and I think is used mainly by non British guests. There are lots of hotels on the east side of Side in the Tyrengol/Sorgun area so we will hang on until nearer the time.Thomson have the Hemera this year but its £681 for 2 weeks. Its worth it but I like to go away more than once a year. They also have the fabulous Beach house right in the centre of Side for £313 bb for 2 weeks 11th May but our friends dont like BB.
Hi can anyone sort a problem out for me, we have just come back from Anatalya and we went on a trip the Emerald River cruise which took us to Manavgat market then the river cruise then the waterfall in Manavgat, My question is this... when we were in Side old town (cobbled streets, ampitheatre and ruins and shops and couldnt see any decent hotels) we stood in the carpark and looked across the bay where there was a lovely sandy beach and the skyline was filled with hotels and apartments we assume, what is that place called? We are looking for 5 star AI in side (we think) wouldnt want to stay in the old part though. Any ideas anyone? Much appreciated
P.S does anyone know which tour operators use the Barut hotels in Side i can only find the Barut Lara in Thomas Cook
The Barut Lara is in the resort area of Lara Beach which is about an hours drive from Side. It is however near to Antalya and the airport. The Hemera Hotel (AI) and the Arum are both Barut hotels in Side. I know Thomas Cook do both of these and Cosmos & Thomson certainly used to do the Hemera.
Im not sure which direction you were facing in the car park, but I think you may be referring to the Sorgun area!
