...... going north between Cambridge and Leicester? All suggestions welcomed, whether actually on the A1 or in a village/town just off it and easy to reach. Many thanks!

Now are you trying to confuse me ???

Leicester is no-where near the A1 but I would suggest Grantham as a stop over town seeing as you are not going as far North as Newark far nicer with better food to be had

You don't say when bt as I'm going to your neck of the woods soon (7 days) I'll miss you

Confused too!! Going to Leicester from Cambridge I would go A14 and then either take the cross country route via Market Harborough or head across and go up the M1. If doing the latter a great place to stop would be the Farm Shop tea rooms off junction 7 of the A14 at Kettering. I think it's junction 9, will also give you a variety of 'chains' to choose from, Frankie and Benny's, Hobson's choice etc.

If you go the cross country route than Harborough is worth a visit, lots of lunch possibilities there!

Thanks all for your help. I'm serious when I say that roads tend to move when you haven't been on them for x years!!
