There is a wide variety of entertainment in Benalmadena. There are several Karaoke bars, music bars with British Entertainers, 24 hour square with a few disco bars. There is also the Marina with discos and disco/bars. However be aware that most of the discos are catering for the Spanish market and whilst they may play RnB etc. until midnight when then are fairly empty, they will swtich to the Spanish scene after midnight when they start to fill up. Somebody did try and start up a UK dance disco at the marina but it bombed, firstly due to location but secondly because Benalmadena is mainly a family resort for the Brits outside of high season.

Since a taxi from one end of Benalmadena to the other is around 7 Euros at night, you could be paying 10 to 15 to get to Fuengirola. Torremelinos is closer and there are several discos scattered on the way there and in it.

Crtinson :D I remember watching a place in the sun (with the ex eastenders lass in it )Nadia swahilia,(spelling again!!!), and it showed that couple opening that bar, and they spend a fortune on it, but it was empty every night, until they employed spanish bar staff, and spanish touts, they it was quite busy then, wonder if it's still doing ok? Is this the same one you were on about?BBB.

Nicoliverpool :D Where abouts are you staying? We're at Benalmadema Palace.BBB

I guess it's the same one. The marina is definitely catering for the natives so not an ideal location. No idea if it's still going.

There is a new place opened up called The Cavern which is British run, which is quite large. They're still aiming at the family market, with mainly Karaoke and a Tamla Disco on Friday. I would have thought in high season they could try a UK dance night and see how it goes.

Buses run from Fuengirola to Bnealmadina frequently and it'll only cost you 1 euro each. So get the bus in and the taxi back and between you it'll cost next to nothing.
Definately do both resorts though as well as Torremolinos.
Benalmadina has more of a foreign feel to it, whereas for me, Fuengirola has a very British feel to it's nightlife.
But try and use the buses, as it'll save you a fortune on taxi's.
Remember..variety is the spice of life.

hello, I had my hen week in Benalmadena last July and unfortunatly we were not recieved very well any where. The marina was lovely for nice meals out but not partying. In the square you need to be careful if you are female, it is not a very nice place.

hey nicolaliverpool
i go over there next tuesday, can't wait!!
my boyfriends parents own an apartment in belamadena and his 18yr old cousin lives permanetely over there with her family, they own "fincas" which is a fish and chip shop near 24hour square. she loves the night life and is always out partying till the early hours. theres plenty of bars in 24hour square from clubs and discos to kareoke and sports bars. i personally prefer fuengirola for restaurants but i don't think there is as much nightlife there as in belamadena. you shouldn't really be paying more than 20euros for a taxi between the 2. more like 12-15euros. hope you have a great holiday 8)

Andy - thanks for message regarding benalmadena palace, just read it today, was getting a bit worried as I read mixed reviews, we have payed for a sea view, so just hope we are not on bottom floor, as a couple had said they payed for a sea view but couldn't see it as they were on the ground floor!!!

Kirsty- have a brill time, we fly out on the 12th, really looking forward now

Nikki - Hope they are a bit more friendly when we go next week!!! Mind, we'll have our 11 year old lad with us, so unfortunately won't be able to stay out all hours partying!!!

Any recommendations for a nice breakfast and evening meal- Thanks BBB

Hi BBB :D

If you can get the telephone number for the Benalmadena Palace ring up a week before you go, and request a high floor, we have always done this in many resorts and it has worked. we now stay in a private apartment so have our sea view... you will love Benal... lots to see and do, been going for 10yrs now :D

:D Davanne a kind HT member helped me out with email address, so will email them a week before and ask for a high floor. (There are only 4 floors, so would like the top floor).

My mums just come back from roquets de mar and a week before she was due to fly to asked me to email hotel and ask for top floor overlooking the sea, with a sunny balcony (She didn't want much!!!!), my dad was joking that they would probably get bottom floor, no sun, and be overlooking rubbish bins, but to there surprise they got all three. (not the latter three thankfully!!!), so they were really pleased, just hope we are as lucky, thanks for your reply.BBB.

nightlife's ok in benalmedena, fuengirola & torremolinos.

24 hour square in benalmedena becomes a bit of a fight zone at weekends, seems to attract the 16-21 crowd. The dutch inn & Busbys are the busiest.

The marina is expensive & absolutely packed with locals on Saturday nights, its an ok night for the "30+" age groups.

Fuengirola has a few decent bars/clubs London Bar & The underground are popular.

Torremolinos bars tend to be scattered around, think the Amsterdam bar was still open last year. Unfortunately Rocky's bar has now closed
The main club is palladium(huge place swimming pool etc), opens periodically in may/june.

Fuengirola is very British as someone else said earlier. Too British for my liking, with London Bar & London Underground very Cockney and charging London West-end prices for drinks.

Benalmadena has it's own British areas but tends to cater more for the 30+ age-group with karaoke style entertainment. 24-Hour Square (it's not open 24 hours by the way) is fine for the club scene as is the marina, but that is more Spanish orientated and quite expensive if you are out for some serious drinking.

Torremolinos I don't know - sorry.

:D Hi, we have just returned, the only decent bar we came accross was Busby's it had different acts on every night. Drag acts, comedians, etc...Its situated at the top of cardiac hill., just around the corner is 24 hour square, a couple of discos, and bars,(Only trouble is the bars are so close together, and the mix of loud music coming from the bars drives you mad after a while). If your after a lively holiday, with plenty of entertainment, you will be dissapointed, we were, we found the nightlife (Or should I say lack of nightlife), extremely boring. I notice you are only 21, so the 24 hour square will probably be ideal for you. Enjoy. BBB.
