Le Bernadin is often recommended on trip advisor for a special meal. See here - http://www.le-bernardin.com/ Also hot on the TA list is the River Cafe - http://www.rivercafe.com/ It has stunning views and is said to be very romantic.
My hubby and are going to Gordon Ramsey at the London next month for his 40th. I know someone who has been and it's well recommended. Website here - http://www.gordonramsay.com/gratthelondon/

Hope that helps get you started.

Hi Jaime

I'd second the River Cafe - it's fantastic and very romantic! You can make a reservation via its website. What about hiring a limo to take you there and have a romantic walk back over the Brooklyn Bridge afterwards?

thanks for the tips, however i have provisionally booked "the view" which is at the top of the marriott hotel and apparently offers fantastic views of the manhatten skyline, has anyone been or heard any reviews on it??

Thanks

You might want to take a look at the reviews on Tripadvisor (traveler comments) they are quite mixed with most complaining of being way overpriced.
Also check out Zagat's - THE restaurant reviewer in NY.

You may find some inspiration in the New York City Breaks forum
