My wife & I are cruising on the Oceana in September (Our first ever cruise).

We are looking forward to it but we have heard a lot of reports that on the Oceana the general age group tends to be a lot older. I am not ageist or anything, it's just that I'd hoped there would be more of a mix. (We are in our early 30's).

Hi Lew and welcome to HT!

We are also sailing on the Oceana in September on the E824. First time with P&O and I too am a little apprehensive. With it being outwith the school holidays I'm not expecting many kids and that may push the age range up a bit.

However from what I have read, the Oceana is supposed to be one of P&O friendliest ships so I'm sure we'll be fine.

Is this you first cruise?

Yes this is our first cruise and it can't come quick enough.

My wife has been under a lot of stress at work recently and really needs the break.

I have been on this ship a couple of times and as Luci says it really is a friendly ship.

I didnt see that many young people, but you will have a mixture. Whatever the age, I am sure you will have a brilliant time.

I am booked on Ventura around a similar time, and I am very apprehensive, given the reviews that ship is getting. :(

Hi,
Having just read the last few posts on the subject of Oceana, I have to tell you, in my opinion, you are all in for a real treat. She is a really lovely ship and we found everything (and I mean everything) to be simply outstanding. For those of you who are cruising for the first time, you will be amazed at what she has to offer. We have cruised extensively on nearly every cruise line out there and I have to say she is up there with the best of them. We were seated with some 'senior citizens' and I can only say, they added to our cruise in every respect. Go and enjoy every single minute, disembarkation comes round too quickly!

Does anyone know if there is plenty to do for teenager aged 14,Also when you go ashore can you leave them on the ship (I know you can with Princess ships if they go to the organised teenage club).
Also can you upgrade to a drinks package , more for coffee and cold drinks through the day eg orange / coke etc.
thanks

We are travelling on the Oceana as first time crusers can you tell me if they let you take their towels off the ship?
Reply
Yes people took the pool towels to the beach in Gran Canaria last week when we were on it.

Please post any questions regarding the Oceana in the Oceana topic. I have merged this one.

Thanks.
