Hi!
Hope someone can give me a bit of feedback
We are off to Tenerife next Friday for a week - husband was going to book online car parking at Belfast International Airport.
Its giving us a good discount as we've used them a number of times before, however its offering us the use of the "Executive Lounge" for two adults at a cost of £30 extra (return)
Anyone ever done this? Is it worth the money for the facilities - what facilities are there in the Executive Lounge?
Also, we have our son travelling - would they just refuse him entry if the offer is "only" for two adults - or would there be the facility of paying for him to get in?
Sorry if this sounds a bit off the wall, but weve never used this facility before and just dont know whether to go for it or not.
OH has priority pass and can sign me in for £15 so what you were quoted is probably standard. I feel for us it is good value if we have a fair amount of time to spend in the airport. You will get drinks and snacks. Snacks can vary from crisps and nibbles only to almost a full meal if you want it( found the latter at Qatar airport). You will also get free internet either through their computers or by getting the passcode for wi fi free.
Not sure about signing in a child I'm afraid. Its also an area of calm with comfy seats- I have seen folks fast asleep there and wonder how many lose flights
Sounds like I might give it a go - though part of the fun for me is browsing the shops, spraying perfume in the duty free and generally taking in the ambience!
Husband thinks it would be a nice change, particularly as we have three hours in the airport.
I will maybe ring customer services to see whether my 16 year old son would be given admittance. x
If your son's 16 Tootsie, I don't think there should be a problem. If the lounges are adult only, I think that means over 16s but best to check to make sure
Some lounges restrict admittance to under 12's but a 16yr old wouldn't be classed as a child. You may have to pay extra for him though.
I would definetly go for it. When you think how much a drink and a snack costs 'downstairs' you would easily spend £15 each. Worth it just for the peace and quiet me thinks!
I think you need to be spending a minimum of two hours in them to make them VFM, and in these days when it takes a good hour to check in, and go through passports and security I find the hanging around at the airport much shorter than it used to be 10 or 15 years ago.
On the plus side I don't like the hubbub of airports, have no real interest in the shops and can never find 4 seats together at a clean table in a restaurant - well not at Gatwick, Stansted, Heathrow or Luton travelling peak times, so for me they were a haven of peace and tranquility.
Might be worth doing it once to see if it's for you.
You say that you are getting the Lounge Pass for 30GBP return, does that mean you can use the lounge in your destination airport as well? I don't know how many lounges there are in Belfast Airport but the Serviceair one is advertising admittance for just 12GBP per person. It all depends whether your son goes free? I'm not a big fan of Servisair lounges though, I've used them twice in the past and both times they were crowded and noisy. Some upmarket tour companies often give free access to the lounges along with their tours which can often mean they are quite full.
I used to have frequent flyer status with Lufthansa which entitled to me to free Star Alliance lounge use throughout the world and some lounges were super, with showers, free Internet, etc etc but as Fiona said they vary enormously some giving out loads of food with others just offering crisps and nuts. But if you hit them at the right time they can offer some peace and quiet away from the noise and chaos of many airports.
