has anyone been to olu deniz this year (2011) we are thinking of going there next year and we want to know if the resort has livened up since we was there last 6 years ago.
6 years ago we stayed at the sun city hotel,it was fab,but the streets were very quite, there was no entertainment in the bars on the streets, would love to go back if the bars have livened up?!

hi,we were there for four days in june,it was packed, shadows bar on the corner of main street was busy from 7.30 at night until late as was the kareoke bar facing asenea beach hotel. Most bars were busy and it was three times as busy as icmeler although it is a fraction of the size.personally i wont be returning it is basically just one little tourist resort and pretty as it is there are other areas of the country that are as pretty and a lot lesss comercialised,i also found that there was a slight snobby cliquey atmosphere to the place i presume most travellers are repeat visitors. We also noticed that the resort is purley geared up to english tourists and didnt really notice any other nationalities there.Hisaronu wasnt as busy although it too is a larger place and we didnt mind it up here granted it isnt picturesque, but it was very friendly and the service in the couple of places we visited was excellent,
thank you very much,,was there entertainment in every bar please ?
no there were only a couple of bars that provided entertainment (that i saw) however it was very busy.Might i recommend you try icmeler next year it is as scenic as olu deniz (if not more in my opinion particually up toward turunc and amos)has still managed to keep more of its traditional turkish features compared to olu, cay houses, old residential turkish "village"numerous lokantas and turkish pide/lamchun saloons and a couple of mosques none of which did i see in olu deniz (come to think of it is there a residential area)the surrounding area is fantastic and completley unspoilt hisaronu, bozburum, selimye and orhaniye and there is entertainment if you want it in many bars so you have the best of both worlds, also the promanade is lovely and lined with cafes.Marmaris is only a short b us ride away and like benidorm there is something for everybody (unless you are inclined to snoberry lol)the pedestrianised marina in particular is very pretty, try a browse on icmeler on line or trip advisor and you will get more information about the place, good luck
Excellent summary, thank u ,it looks like icmeler
you only have to get a dolmus up to hisaronu there is all the entertainment you could want
is there a lot of entertainment in the restaurants in hisoronu ?
in alot of them but mainly the bars that are all close together at the bottom of the village what sort of entertainment are you after
Hi I've been to both Icmeler/Marmaris and last year Hisaronu and if I had a choice I would pick Hisaronu everytime now. Great nightlife excellent restaurants and very picturesque up in the mountain you also have fetiyhe,Kaya koy, and olu deniz a short dolmus ride away if you want to venture out, Also in my opinion the boat trips and jeep safari are better than marmaris you can also get the water taxi over to Calis beach for a nice ride out. Just my opionion all this but now we have found Hisaronu we prob won't be visiting Marmaris and icmeler again. I can highly recommned the Dedem Hotel/Apts very reasonable price with transfers and Air con included ran by a fantastic set of people litterally 2 minutes walk to the centre of Hisaronu
i have to agree that hissaronu would be my choice also we stay in ovaick which is just a little away from hissaronu but in easy reach for a good night out.
