You have a great choice of opticians in the Candolim area , new ones seem to open every year.(Giving out fliers on the beach}One of the oldest is Romanos who have a place in Calangute front street, in Panjim and I think in Candolim?

As I am writing this, wearing my designer frames, that cost about 40 pounds for reading.There is lots of choice , and every designer frame you could want, and prices compared to the UK are very very cheap.

I tend to stick to single lens for reading or distance as there varifocals and bifocals are sometimes dodgy??? . We have had this discussion on the forum many times.

There are lots of opticians, so pay your money and take your chance.. One of the cheapest is a place on Mapusa Market, but I can't remember the name.

Hi - The one on Mapusa market is called Dangui Brothers. Despite it being a very small shop, the specs are great and excellent value. They also repaired a pair of glasses that Romano and Hi-Tec said couldn't be fixed.....and it cost me 80 rupees!

They have now opened a shop on the main street in Calangute - just further inland from Romano on the same side of the road. Don't know if the prices are higher than Mapusa but I would recommend them. From our experience, they're better than the others.

will agree with you Roma,found them excellent,over 4years,got glasses for my son last year aswell,and he's fussy but is well pleased,and now i've proberbly got another order each visit but you can't justify wot they charge in the uk,so i suppose we'll have to keep going to Goa
