Hi All
Just thought I would post my findings on using a second party to upgrade our flights to India.
We had booked standard tickets via TTI and paid the normal cost.
I had googled about flight upgrades and found that you can upgrade with the airline for £400 each + tax + service charge one way.
I also found a firm called Optiontown who when asked quoted £375ea for the section I wished to change
I pondered if it was worth it as the cost was two thirds of another flight but in the end booked with Optiontown.
They are supposed to get back to you with 4 hours of departure if your upgrade request has been granted
They didn't but checking the airline website for our booking it stated we were in Business Class so all good.
At that point I told Jayne what I had done.
On arriving at check in we found that the booking was in place but the new eticket had not been issued.
Only half a job done.
We had to phone Optiontown whilest at checkin to get them to phone the airline to confirm the booking.
We spent an hour at the check in desk waiting for this to happen.
The Air India staff were excellent and even made sure we had good seats (too much room IMHO)
It was just a shame we lost out an hour of lounge time.
Would I use them again? Maybe
Would we fly business class again?
Yes if we can afford it
This was just the first flight.
The second went badly but that's another post.
Anyway we're here all is good.
S&J
Just looked to see what the return leg would be.
